What is Brink? Though many of you know, i am sure many you also don't care too much about it. HOWEVER, for the same reason Borderlands surprised the heck out of many gamers, the same reason Fallout 3 became a phenomenon, KEEP AN EYE ON THIS GAME. I see signs that this game could become the next big sensation. If you haven't seen videos or info yet, you should. Here are five good reasons to remember the name BRINK
1. Appearance- The graphics to this game so far are some of the most unique i have seen this gen. It is not completely comic like like Borderlands, and yet it isnt detailed like Fallout. It is odd. I don't know how to explain it, it is like a really graphical and detailed game with a kick of cartoonish spunk. The backgrounds and environments will remind you of the post apocalyptic environment, but not a rehash of other games. It redefines post apocalyptic, where the technology is high yet everything looks like a chaotic, gang filled, slum. Everything has artistic effort on it, down to the graffiti on an oil can. Just watch the video. Bon Appétit.
2. SMART Movement- As the video said, the game does not rely on generic movement. It redefines how a shooter moves, almost giving the player the moving abilities of Mirror's Edge. By looking up and pressing the smart command, you climb, and looking down lets you slide. You control every step, it isnt like a scene of movement that you watch the character perform on his own (like prince of persia). It allows a large array of strategy, and the flow of movement looks very slick! Also, you know how characters in cover take out their whole body to shoot and then duck? A little icing on the cake, Brink allows you to angle your camera around corners to shoot instead of sticking out yourbody.... a nice touch.
3. RPG Element and Freedom of Choice- This game is also adding a new very unique twist to RPG. You know how Fallout and Borderlands help you build your character, or how Mass Effect has classes to chose. However, in those games, you overall have the same role in battle , just different abilities or small differences. Imagine if you could be part of a team of fighters and decide how you can contribute to the cause. The game has about four classes so far: Soldier, Operative, Medic, and Engineer. In the middle of battle, you can go to hubs and chose both your current class and also a strategic pair of weapons that go with your class. In the middle of battle, you can actually look at a list of tasks that need to be attended to during a battle. You can willingly chose the responsibility you take depending on the class you have currently chosen. For example, as an Operative, while your team is fighting, you would maybe go on a hunt for intel or interrogate the other team. Meanwhile, an Engineer's job might have instead been something like trying to fix a certain piece of equipment, or a Soldier would need to detonate a wall to create a new pathway for the team. You can chose your task and each task has a different value of experience points that go towards building your character. Cool, NO!
4. Multiplayer- A side note, this game is cooperative with up to 8 friends , competitive online or local, and in a mission you can actually choose the enemies and teammates to be live, online players!! I don't know how that will be pulled off, but it sounds interesting!
5. TRUST BETHESDA- don't forget their last masterpiece Fallout 3, their next piece of work is this game, BRINK. So far, ther is a lot of love in this game, I wonder what else is to come…
TRUST ME, THIS GAME WILL BE GOOD…. Comes Fall 2010
