5 things PS4 needs at launch to beat Xbox 720

Chatter on Sony?s inevitable next-generation console has shifted into overdrive in the past six months or so, with many commentators pretty convinced we?ll see the PlayStation 4 ? supposedly codenamed Orbis ? on shelves by holiday 2013 alongside Microsoft?s new Xbox. In fact, some industry folk expected the machine to put in an appearance at E3 last month, which obviously didn?t happen. Nonetheless, next-gen is just around the corner; Sony is obviously beavering away on its new home console, and we?ve already seen incontrovertible evidence that suggests a number of major developers are staffing up for next-gen projects.

PS4 is going to be a cloud gaming service :lol:

I'm not playing with sales.

Sony said they don't care about being 1st and they don't care about being the cheapest (they won't do the $600 thing again though), they said they just care about being the most powerful console and having the best games next gen.

Which would actually be a great strategy, see Wii U launches with current gen power, 720 (or Xbox 8 or whatever) launches and is moderately more powerful than this gen and has the usual Halo, Gears, and some later to be multiplats.

PS4 launches later and shows off games that wipe the floor with everything on the 720 and Wii U in graphics and tech, it also has a huge lineup of great 1st party exclusives to bring to the table, and maybe some multiplats as well which look far better on PS4 than the 720 because devs took advantage of that extra power.

It could over shadow the other 2 completely. Keep an eye on Gurilla Games, they haven't revealed a new game for a while, my guess is it's a next gen FPS. Could be a Killzone 4 maybe? Naughty Dog also has 2 teams, one is working currently on TLOU, what is the other team working on? Uncharted 4 PS4 maybe? Jak 4?

We will see later. Sony also has an ace up it's sleeve, the cloud system they just bought, they could easily do BC with that and have Steam deals on it. Top this off with PS+ and giving people even MORE savings with "free" games, and you have something that destroys any other console online service out there.

The things listed are what sony needs for the system to be sucessful PERIOD. No one knows how PS4 will be caparable to the next xbox system or what one will need to "beat" the other. Stupid article is stupid.

1. A few good launch exclusives
2. Competitive price
3. Keep PSN free & the premium PS+ separate (unlike XBL, which most of the service requires subscription service)
4. Better advertising (This is where Sony failed to do with PS3 games compared to MS)
5. Don't focus too much on casual games
