most retailers stopped taking preorders weeks ago, and it looks like alot of people wanted to get whatever shelf copies were left over. however, a second shipment is coming next week (and much earlier than nintendo anticipated)

its unlikely that nintendo shipped that many copies (thats more than melee sold in its lifetime in japan)

although, melee's first week sales were roughly 360 000 on a userbase of only 500 000 gamecube's. there are 5 million wii's in japan right now, so who knows....

Mmmm dont get your hopes up. Im pretty sure the general consensus is that Nintendo is creating major stock piles of the game, Wiis, and accessories in order to meet the enormous demand the game will generate. I would be willing to bet all three version of the game NTSC, PAL and JP were all done around the same time, but Nintendo just doesnt have the resources set up to print enough copies of the game along with supplying enough Wiis and accessories to accompany it for all three territories at once, thus we got delays and stagering release dates for the different territories.

Your expectations are unreasonable. The first Japanese shipment of Brawl to retailers is 400 to 500k. They cant sell more than they ship. This game will top out on Media Create at around 450k tops (50k or so of the game will be sold at super small mom and pop stores that dont report their sales to Media Create). The dreams of the game doing a million in one week are just that. Dreams.
