Not to bash the consoles or anything but I wonder why there is such a dominance to make short games? I mean I havent seen many PC games lasting so short even Single player games...I guess renting is the indicator that many console games arent worth buying....
I'm guess its the initial increase in costs to produce a next generation game.thirstychainsaw
I see...However next after next gen games like Crysis look like ones with huge replay value with teh whole openendness and lots of different approaches to the gameplay...while costing loads of money to produce...

Maybe if you were playing on easy. Or had played it a lot before. I think it took me ~10 hours on the second hardest setting.
well then that goes for any game like HS wsnt it 6hours? which is stupid cause it took me like 9 hours to beat it on medium.. so on hard should take me 15+

If it took 9 hours on medium, that's how long I would consider it.
the way i figure it, since movies and games are direct competitors in the entertainment industry (excluding movie liscensed games) andif movies are 2 hours long and 10 bucks a pop, then,for 60 bucks, a game should be at least 12 hours long, becasue thats equivalent to 6 movies for the price of one game.
I like shorter games, especially for rentals. I currently have Eternal Sonata and Two Worlds rented on 360, both have at least 30-40 hours of content. I'm going to be paying hefty late charges, that's all I know.
I hate short games like that, though many developers put most of their effort into multiplayer so therefore there is a lack of single-player emphasis ....

3 hours? I've played through it around 10 times, and it normally takes me between 10 and 20 hours; however, if I plan on doing everything, it takes closer to 25 hours.

That's about the time it took me. It probably can be done in 2 hours, I remember someone on the Fable gamefaqs board did it in 2 hours and 53 minutes but it was a speed run i.e hardly levelling up, side quests etc.
Anything less than 10 hours is unacceptable, IMO. If I'm going to pay $50-60 for a game - it is going to have to offer more than that.Erkidu
Yeah, I agree...but I would buy just about everything if I could afford it, so for me it's really just a matter of how much money I have instead of how much games cost.
10 hour games or less are unacceptable unless they include multiplayer, because multiplayer significantly increases the hours on a game up to like 100+ hours. Like Halo 3, the campaign was short, but the multiplayer is amazing and i'll be playing it with my friends for years to come, at least until the next halo game comes out.
