Story mode is just that bad. It's nothing more than an excuse to watch some story illustrations and get easy fight money.
If you want to get wrecked by the CPU, Survival Mode and Training CPU lvl 8 have you covered. Though the survival mode CPU is cheap as **** with some bullshit difficulty spikes.

Yeah it is. Makes no sense either. There is already some difficult AI programmed into the game.
Survival mode has 4 difficulty settings, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Hell. The latter two definitely live up to their names.
Then the training mode has 8 difficulty settings and that level 8 can be a real bitch to contend with. Basically it's like the hardest AI you would fight in the previous SF arcade modes.
So then why is story mode just 3 fights, 1 round a piece, (per character) with no difficulty settings? lol.

lol I wasn't even out for ownage, I wish he was right. I read his post and thought "Son of a bitch, are there some hidden settings that I haven't seen?". Then I booted up the game and checked again. No such luck lol.
Thank god the net code on this game is flawless, if it was up to the single player content to carry the weight, this would be one of the worst games I've purchased in years.
I don't understand why they bothered. They should have just held onto the voice clips and released a proper character story mode sometime later. They could have hired a proper artist as well.
I mean, look at this shit. I'm no expert on human anatomy, but I'm pretty damn sure a body can't bend like that.

You are right, it's just easy and nothing else to change.
I'll be more clear: The story mode is on easy, it's a garbage mode set up for scrubs and noobs.
You can see in the overly posted video the AI is ridiculously stupid and performing (based on previous SF entries) on by default the easiest setting. It's there to allow newbs to play without any use of defense/blocking, and beat the hell out of the AI while it randomly jumps, ducks, and walks up to be hit. It's clear as day and you are right, the mode is garbage (and short). You can't adjust the mode, but it's obviously set to easy by Capcom and it's not adjustable, but it's not officially labeled as easy...true. It just is.
There is no difficulty settings, but based on the AI, but it's on easy based on what we know about SF AI. People can beat that mode with their eyes closed, literally.

You posters must be massive Street Fighter fans, and by default, you must be huge fighting game aficionados. That is not only made clear with your posts this SF thread, but your posting history on all things SF and fighting games over the years. I have known you posters for years, and you must have kept that SF passion a secret until now. I myself have played SF with dozens of System Warriors (I am undefeated at GS) over the many years and since my original posts have made my fighting game and SF passion known since 2005. I appreciate your attempts at participation in this Street Fighter thread. It's always nice to be surrounded by true gamers, and true blue Street Fighter fans, and not the sort of spammy trolls that post about games they don't own or even want to play. SF5 Survival mode (which has progressively harder AI) would have been impressive from a baby, but alas.
Thanks for elevating the thread with your expertise. Although I've been playing SF since the early 1990's, I've been an arcade champion in numerous tourneys, and I own SFV... It's clear to me now with your posts, that the Story mode is on some sort of "mystery" default setting. Gosh. The non-adjustable story mode is on a unknown setting (lol). That AI is just far too difficult in Story Mode as made clear by this six month old or anyone that played the mode. It's beautiful the way the AI just jumps and ducks for no reason, then walks up without attacking, doesn't block, and gives the gamer opportunities to hit/combo repeatedly. In previous entries including SF4, the AI performance and behavior we see on display in Story mode was clearly Easy mode AI performance, but now what the SF gamers knew before, in SFV the AI performance is suddenly something we can't determine because the mode isn't adjustable. Good to know. Even before this video, it was well known that the story mode is far too easy and short. In previous SF entries, that was an easy mode, but since you can't adjust story mode, and you guys posted, I realize I'm dealing with people that know a lot (or don't) about SFV and I'll let you guys rock this thread with your clear expertise.

And Capcom deserve being called pathetic, imo. SFV should have been delayed, but they really wanted the game at EVO. The SFV gameplay is good, but the content is too light.
Also, the SFV Story mode really is half done garbage.

Dude, I started playing HD Remix again the other day, and it just reminds you how much current SFs hold your hand.
Every move has to be pulled off precisely, timing spot on. Even the SF4 controllers D-Pad seems to only just does it.
But to be fair, I'm a bigger fan of pre 'SSF2' games. I thought they were more balanced. And I've never been a fan of the added four fighters, I don't think they gel well with the other fighters who just worked perfectly with each other.
Street Fighter 2 Turbo is the one I played the shit out of.

I'm not sure, ask Capcom. I didn't make the game and design it to be so easy. I'm not defending the game's design choices, just simply explaining them.
I never said "scrub friendly" btw, I said "scrub friendly garbage". It's a new lower level of scrub mode. It's clear Capcom went to far in making that mode far too easy, all evident in the video for those that don't have the game to see for themselves how bunk the Story mode is.
Of course, there is always Survival for those that actually want a challenge with progressively harder AI.
