I assumed the sales for the PS3 and PS2 would be better than the 360 in Japan.

I was suprised that a month to month comparison of the same consoles in America are comparible.  Thoughts?

Based on what the retailers have been saying, and the fact that I could still walk into a store and pre-order without the need of a deposit, I can easily say don't get your PS3 hopes up for Europe..

Then why has GAME cancelled the midnight launch and rescheduled for 7am the next day? It's safe to assume demand will be high.

?? I don't know how the GAME stores over there work, but where I live stores have a midnight launch when the demand is high. When it's low, there's no need to work the extra hours during the night.

Midnight launches are a special, almost celebratory event.

The hushed next day opening will hardly be as exciting...

The reason they give has a bit more credibility to it which is a day launch may yield safer results than a midnight launch. By your reasoning I think your saying the demand for the PS3 is their imagination and simply not there.

Please stop hanging on to this wishful thinking - the launches are nowhere close to even similar. The 360 was sold out for 5 months during launch - the PS3 has been readily available since December...   ...you understand the difference between selling every console you put on a shelf, and having numerous consoles sitting around collecting dust, right?

If you look at the first four months between Xbox & PS2 in North America, Xbox did better....but the PS2 was still the overall winner last gen.

The first four months of a console's life are pretty meaningless if you ask me because it represents the pent-up demand stage.

So the 360 lead doesn't mean anything...............agreed.

No, it does mean something thanks to over a year's worth of sales data. We see that people are still buying the 360, and right now they are buying it over the PS3. The sales data is not as simple as you make it out to be because we now have the direct alternative on the market to the Xbox 360, in plenty of supply, and it's not beating it in sales.

Microsoft will extend their lead in North America considerably in 2007. Combined with a price cut (it's inevitable) and with the two most valuable IP game franchises (Halo, Grand Theft Auto) Xbox 360s will be clobbering the PS3 this year, at least in North America.

The fact they cancelled a midnight launch indicates the complete opposite of what you said :| GAME do midnight launchs for high demand products
