I'd gladly pay 70 just so the service wasn't slow
Give me faster donwloads and lag free matches and you can have 70 dollars easy, throw in the rest to make yourself happy but just make it a competent service and the money is there

faster downloads and lag depends on users' internet connection as well. there is not much they can do...you have to talk with your internet provider.
for example, tiger wood PGA tour 10 1700MB demo, i had it downloaded in 15 mins, but it might be half hour or moreinother people'shouse.
Lol, if that is true it would be intresting how the cows would react

Believe me, some will probably take the lemming route and claim that it'll improve the PSN experience. It still doesn't make any sense though. Either way, as long as demos and multiplayer are still free, I couldn't care less.

Well exactly. I just want the multiplayer to be free. If thats not, im screwed paying potentially paying $120/year for both Live and PSN
This. Though some of the supposed possibilities of a subscribed PSN makes it pretty sweet. As long as what they have now stays free, I'm all for an optional paid subscription.

Unlimited access to PSOne classics? That sounds cool, as well as PSN Store discounts. Purely optional? There is nothing wrong with that.

This. I want almost every PS one title, as I love to go back and play classics but my brother sold our PSone and games to get more PS2 games.
The only one I have left is FFIX, the one I disliked the most.
Agreed. But I remember a while back a thread questioning how important is BC in a console since the PS3 dropped it. So many claimed it wasn't all that, and new games are all they need. I wonder if some are now saying unlimited access to" PS1 games, I'll pay!!!" I love my PS3 being BC, and wouldn't want it any other way.Unlimited access to PSOne classics? I'll pass and use the free service. I don't need long demos or that other crap. Xlive isn't worth it and neither is that.
The problem with a $70 price tag, with the current listed features, is you're not actually getting anything extra that you can't already get from the free PSN. Ok, so you have extra save storage... everything else is already available to customers who shell out a few bucks. Honestly, you have to do quite a bit of purchasing over the course of the year to make it worth that $70 price tag. If they want to make the premium service worth that cash, they need to not only offer what is available on XBL, but also bump it up with a couple extra services that you can't get elsewhere.I looked at some of the features included in these premium packages, and imo none of it makes the service worth the $70 per year. Good thing online play will remain free.

It is a competent service, but fanboys don't see it that way. And I think the download speed BS is the worst excuse I've ever seen. I don't get fast download speeds, but I also don't play 24 hours a day, so I can just download games when I'm not playing. In fact, I'm downloading 2 demos as I'm typing this. The only problem is that my ps3 froze once again, so I may need to just get a new one. It wasn't very hot, and I only played it for about 2 hours, so It makes no sense for it to freeze.I'd gladly pay 70 just so the service wasn't slow

I love my PS3 being BC, and wouldn't want it any other way. I'm pretty sure all ps3s play ps1 games. My slim does, but It scratched up one of my black discs.Fortunately, the scratches weren't deep. I'd love to be able to play ps2 games on my ps3, but considering it just had a huge price drop, the fact that the new model came out, and that I already own a fat ps2, it wasn't a huge problem that I got the ps3. .Plus, I got the Black Friday deal, so I got a pretty good deal. Still, being able to play my 80 or so ps2 games on my ps3, of which many are nowhere near completion, would be great, especially adding all the things I could do on my ps3 while playing those games.Unlimited access to PSOne classics? That sounds cool, as well as PSN Store discounts. Purely optional? There is nothing wrong with that.

XBL is a fantastic service, the interface and the online play are so worth the monthly fee. PSN is a solid service, but XBL is imo still superior!I'll pass and use the free service. I don't need long demos or that other crap. Xlive isn't worth it and neither is that.

Mark my words within the next 2 years you will be paying for online multliplayer on PSN..
No I have no way to know, but let me just say once Pandora's box is opened and Sony sees the profit it can make doing like Live..they will charge.
I still think that Sony is only holding out on the free service to lure in new purchases of the PS3.
That is the problem in a business sense. Online play is the "hook" for the most part, and Sony already gave that card away. Now that may make them a lot of friends, but it may not make them much money. There are some cool features in that premium service, but none I need to have. Maybe you consider it wrong or greedy, but that was the genius in Live, from a business stand point. They should do better than that to get me to pay for Premium.
At least online will still be free.

I have to subscribe yearly, to get a 3 year warranty? So does my yearly fee go down when the 3 year warranty is up? Sounds stupid, imo. Just cover your product, Sony. I would have paid a one time fee for 3 years like the Xbox service plan.Extended console warranty to 3 years, that sounds great.
Full title trial? first hour is free...wow thats amazing.
Cloud storage space for games, thats great too.

If this premium service doesn't take off, the fee will happen for online play. It's just too much revenue that is lost for them not to do it.[QUOTE="cainetao11"][QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]

The hypothetical premium content sounds great but still, i'd be able play my games online for free :)AgentA-Mi6for now.... when those *premium dont sell they will make you pay. trust me. they see ms charging and its system is still selling and their online based games are selling double of ps3s... so enjoy it will its lasts it wont be much longer:wink:

But it may happen. Live has proven that for a small fee on a closed service it works. Sony is letting money go, if they don't.
3 year warrenty, plus everything live offers, and more.... seems worth it. But again NOT like live and force you to pay to play basic ONLINE!!!
WTF, that is pure B.S. and Cows say Live is overcharged
defenitley sticking to Xbox Live if this rediculousness pans out!!!
typical sony i saw the possible features and the only thing that looked interisting is the free ps1 games , but other then that 70 is pushing it ,
remember launch of ps3 "playstation 3 will launch for five hundred and ninty nine us dollars giant enemy crabs hahaha
i almost had a heart burn because of that hahhaa sony dis-pleases me ill keep paying 50 for my live thank you very much -no credit card or debit card required ps3 is like stuck in the original xbox years- where a debit or major credit card is required lol
Then say bye-bye to all the upgrades the free PSN gets. From when they start doing that, any new features will only be added to the premium service/s. There are so many hypocrites on these forums, it disgusts me.As long as what they have now stays free, I'm all for an optional paid subscription.

to hell wit that. as long as can get the exact same thing for 20 bucks less on XBL theres no way id pay that much for PSN and the premium services. i think like someone else said, as long as they price it UNDER the xbl then itll be successful. only people with no choice will pay that rediculous amount.... i do wonder what all it gives you...Please Log In to post.
