Anyone else agree? 1080p is way ahead of it's time, not that many games support 1080p. I think it's best if you stick with 720p, it's best for gaming.

1080p is definitely better, but I agree it may have been a bit too early for it. HD sales are increasing all the time though.

720p most definitely does NOT own 1080p.  The only people who would ever say that are people who don't own 1080p capable TV's.

Not the smartest comment. Keep in mind the life cycle of these systems. I have a 360 and a Wii. I did not buy a PS3 due to lack of games at the moment. However my TV is fully 1080p HD and that trend will only continue.

720p is greater than 1080p in terms of currently owned TVs that support it.  Most people do not even own a HDTV, though, let alone one that gets 1080p.  MS and Sony have called this the Hi Def gen, but it actually may not fully develop until next gen.

No, I know 1080p is better, but I mean for games, like how many games support 1080p right now? Not that many right? That's why I think 720p is better, I think you understood what I was saying wrong.

In terms of framerate and texture quality on 360/PS3 720p is better. I believe if 360/PS3 had more RAM 1080p would be ideal. I think the next gen of consoles is when we will really see good AA/AF high resolution console games.

No it doesn't. Stop lying about your systems capabalities. It has to be developed for 1080p, to be displayed as a 1080p image. GT: HD just proves how valuable 1080p can be, and by the time GT:HD comes out more people will have 1080p. Other than that Virtua Fighter 5= 1080p Virtua Tennis 3= 1080p New Basket-ball game =1080p Tekken 6 =1080p. Killzone 2= 1080p.

720p is going to be the standard for a while. I don't know how long, but your HD broadcasts are at 720p. I'm an advocate for 720p.

No. 1080p is better. that's a fact.

not if it means developers have lower the framerates or lower the quality of the textures. And that is exactly what will happen this gen. 1080P takes much more power and will only be useable in simple games where there is not much happening on screen (tennis, fighting). expect most games this gen to be 7320P and be glad for it. Most developers will say 720P is the sweetspot right now.

Actually he's correct. The 360 can upscale native 720p renderings to display at 1080p. However, they won't be native 1080p images. A 1080p native HDTV will do the same thing with 720p games on the PS3. It just depends on what you consider to be better, the 360's scaler or the one in your set.

I have a 1080p TV but since its newer it will only allow me to do 1080p with HDMI cable. Which kind of saddened me. O well I guess I'll have to stick with 720p.

No it probably could if the devs would do it, but Microsoft said it couldn't. Just check IGN.com for the FAll update review.

It's because you keep saying it's better, you should change your grammar. And say instead 720P is the choice for most games right now, instead of 1080P. In that factor it does own it, but technically it way over it's head. Since 1080P almost takes double the amount of space that 720P has in it's resolution.

well okay u say is better which is true. but hard ware right now cant output a 1080p image with the same amount of detail and textures as a 720p image. the ps3 or the 360 dont have the power right now. thats why u see dev staying at the 720p range and just having the rest resolutions upscaled. and ofcourse 1080p is ahead for its time. it shouldnt of been released so early.

You are confusing native 1080p renderings with upscaled renderings.

I own 2 HDTVs with one being 1080p. 1080p is a waste because is doesn't look any better then 720p on a 42'" TV. Even on a 55" TV it doesn't look that great. 1080p is a scam like the PS3. Nobody needs 1080p and if you think that you do then you are brainwashed by an industry that tells you that it's superior when it's clearly not. I laugh at ignorant people who try and tell me that 1080p is great when it's just overhyped BS. Both my TV's are SONY. 720p is the best.

I agree, comparing 1080p sets to 720p sets made me change up my buying plans for an HD set.  While being extremely expensive, I think a picture that much better is totally worth it.

I agree, I prefer games to have more detail and a stable framerate then running at a higher resolution. Going 1080p for console games is too premature.

I've looked long and hard at DLP, trust me I have, the prices are so great.  But When I'm standing and looking down at the TV the screen starts to get darker and go black...

I choose LCD.

1080p is better but I think 720p will be more of a standard this gen or for at least the first few years.  I'd prefer it that way if it means better performance from games.  I think it's worth noting that 720p capable TV's are dropping in prices real fast, so I don't think it will take that long before people make the switch.

jajajajajajajajajajaja You re saying that because the 360 cant output at that resolution...! Get over it already accept the power of the ps3 and lets have peace!
