We're basically 2 1/2 year into the 7th gen. I think the last gen was doing better by this point.

the 6th gen is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than 7th gen so farps3_owns_360Wii
Yeah, and everybody saying this are the Sony fans (like yourself as your name indicates) who are just bitter about their favorite platform falling from 1st to 3rd place. If PS3 was still in 1st place (and it's not so I don't know how you could even come up with a name like that) you'd be screaming from the rooftops how this generation is the best we've ever had because of Sony's greatness, and games like Resistance, Motorstorm, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, and hell, maybe even Lair
This generation we've had games not just with better visuals, but deeper levels of immersion, greater quality of cinematic story telling, larger worlds to get involved in, and the most support for playing with friends, not just online multiplayer but more co-op than we saw last generation.
Anybody complaining about this generation doesn't have a grasp of gaming history beyond PS2 or PS1.
PS2 in 2001 had more quality games than this whole gen.ParasomniacI believe I must agree. Twisted Metal, MGS2, GTA3, FF10, Jak and Daxter, Ico, Devil May Cry, Tony Hawk 3, Balder's Gate, Onimusha, Red Faction, Silent Hill 2. There are just to many to name. I must say though this gen has been quite good so far. It is not over, so lets hope for the best.
Why would you say last gen is better when every gen it GETS better. You get bigger world, better graphics, better physics(and all of the other bells and whistles), more immersion, better and bigger online...I could go on and on. I don't mean to sound like a mean person I am just stating my opinion so don't be offended please.
Nostalogia(hope I spelled that right) usually plays a role in that. Some people like to remember things from when they were younger and sometimes enjoyed it more. I enjoyed games more when I was younger than I do now. Back then I had no worries in life. Once you get older though, games are not the main thing you want to do. Other important things come before games do.Why would you say last gen is better when every gen it GETS better. Most of the time, they can't even get that right. Online play should be limited to games where it's actually NEEDED. Not tacked on as some extra just because they can. This gen is plauged with micro-transactions, hardware failures, hardware gimmicks.
The only thing this gen did right, was online play.

They have shorten the single player experiences this gen, tack on the same multiplayer experience for every game and charge $60 for it. Multiplayer is great, but nothing can replace a good 10-15 hour story that keeps you intrigued the whole time IMO.[QUOTE="SparkyProtocol"]Nostalogia(hope I spelled that right) usually plays a role in that. Better graphics is meh. Physics only applies only to action/fps games. Bigger world..not really, look at IU.

It most likely will not change for sometime because people will still go out and buy the same rehashed game every year for $60 and also buy the DLC for it.

Very great system IMO. I owned all three, but the Gamecube had me coming back to it. Not as much as the PS2 though.[QUOTE="ps3_owns_360Wii"]the 6th gen is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than 7th gen so farAdobeArtist

What are you rambling about? I'm not a Sony fan, and I think last-gen was MUCH better. I had all three consoles last-gen. It has nothing to do with who is in which place. It has to do with games getting shorter and dumbed down, and a healthy variety of genres being replaced by the idiotic shooter craze. Also: Companies milking us with DLC and releasing unfinished games, defective hardware, and having to wait years and years for games to come out because of insane delays thanks to the expensive and complicated development of HD games. So only Sony fans are dissapointed? Yeah, whatever. :roll:This gen has experienced a VERY slow start, but sometimes a slow start can mean a long lifespan for all consoles and better quality over a long period of time. The reasons for this slow start were manly the high cost of software development for high-end systems (360, PS3, PC), but nowadays that cost is going down because of graphics engines doing most of the hard work for developers already (look at Unreal Engine 3 and various others). Another reason for the slow start was the high cost of hardware (remember how expensive the PS3 was at launch?), but this too is not much of a problem, and in a few years the slim-line PS3 may become as cheap as the Wii. Last generation was great, but the consoles didn't have long lifespans (besides the PS2), while this generation all consoles will live for a very long time. This gen revolves around patience (waiting for price drops etc) in exchange for longer lifespans (the Xbox 360 will live for more years than original Xbox), but in the end this gen will really outshine the previous :)We're basically 2 1/2 year into the 7th gen. 5th gen was better than 6th and 6th was better than 7th. :/
It's just because it used to be cheaper to make games so they could make more games, more quickly.
Now do you want a new playstation/xbox system to be released?
5th gen was better than 6th and 6th was better than 7th. :/ hakanakumono...and 4th was way better 5th. An alarming trend, wouldn't you agree?

So should we all just agree; Pong greater than any game and any generation ever?? :P
Well from what I've seen so far I must say that I liked the 6th gen a lot more.
Fav gens were probably 4th and 6th tho.

No, we should all agree that the 16 bit era was the best generation of games and things have only been declining since. Please Log In to post.
