But didn't you hear? Lemmings sit down and play games for 8 hours straight.trizzle_a
Yeah like Halo 3, a game that was criticized for being to short. Now Uncharted is even shorter than Halo and its an adventure game without any reason to replay it. How sad is that.
The game is still more like 10 hours(this is what other reviewers have said).
THe game has replay value.
The Game is great.
Go buy it.
=P
See, I see no point in buying action/adventure games like Assassins Creed, Ratchet in Clank, or soon to be Uncharted. Why not just rent them for a week and complete the story?
Logan832
Renting games = money publishers dont see. Publisher need to make more money so they increase the price of games. Renting isnt the only factor why consoles games are now $10 more....but its an undeniable factor.
I cant say i blame you for trying to save some money. But you cant exactly complain if games get even pricier.

Publishers and devs does get money for every person who rents a game... Well certainly not as much as for games sold, but its still money.
Going to a movie: ~$4 per hour
Buying a good multiplayer game (Halo 3, Warhawk, CoD4) for $60: anywhere between 20 cents and 1 dollar per hour
Buying Uncharted for $60: $6-8 per hour
Renting Uncharted for $10: 60 to 80 cents per hour.

acually no, that is correct. i thought you meant RIGHT!
8 hour's isnt too short it's a fairly decent lenght for an action/adventure game :)PS360Fanboy
Yeah, its a fairly decent length. Fairly decent length is far from long though.
If you think about it, it's a game where you don't have to run back to do things. Similar to a shooter type feel, you have a set path and thats the game. There are types of adventure games and rpg like quality games where you have to go back and forth to do certain things, which could easily double the total time to complete the game making it seem like a longer game when it actually is not. Just my idea...Agree, Disagree? Not here to start any "flame war" just like to see educated opinions.Logan832
It's fun to watch fanboys rationalize things down in their minds to make things okay. Internal damage control...spoken out loud.

There are a lot of new levels, but often you get some power up that lets you gain further access into levels you already visited. It does add to the game length. Without that the game probalby wouldnt be too long. But still a solid single player game should be long enough to make it worth a purchase. What good is buying an eight hour game when you can rent it and beat it. If there is no multiplayer or replay value there is little insentive to buy short games. Even if those games are great.

From IGN's review:
"Of course, but the current length works because Uncharted is an adventure that's meant to be played more than once. There are four difficulties to master, 60 hidden treasures to find and 47 medals to unlock for things such as headshots, treasures found and more. These medals yield points, which can be used to unlock additional costumes, unlimited ammo and more in-game goodies."

I always considered that to be a bit of an easy way out for developers. Sure those things can be fun, but Id rather have two hours of new content than ingame medals that will take me an extraeight hours to get.
An 8 hour game isn't worth paying $60 for IMO.Relys
To add to that,
I think an eight hour single player game with zero multiplayer option is not really worth 60bucks.
Resistence, Gear of War, Halo 3 were all fairly short-ish but most folks most likely got at least a 10:1 ratio of Mulitplayer Vs. Single Player.
i'd rather an 8 hour game that is fresh, fun, and action packed from the first minute to the last, than a 30 hour game that is equally fun, but drones on and becomes a chore to reach the stories conclusion...rocktimusprime
Id rather play a game that's long and fun the entire time. Not all games that are long are also boring.

no but a game like Halo could be drawn out and really lose it's appeal, then mid way through, its no fun. I suspect thats why companies like the short game, its much easier to keep ideas fresh on a smaller canvas.
not saying its a bad thing, not saying its a good thing

I get what you mean. Getting the same satisfaction in eight hours instead of thirty is ofcourse better. But an eight hour singleplayer only game is in no way true AAA material in my opinion. Except if its so incredibly fun that I'd sell afriends little sister for it.
I wonder why people don't consider unlockables as "replay value"?0rin
Sure it adds to the replay value. But how much? Things like multiplayer, alternate endings or other characters are things that really make me want to play the game again. Things like a new costume or a note that says I got ten headshots in a row make me want to play the game if I dont have anything better to do.

on easy...
I beat Bishock in 10 hours, and Half life 2 in 7. I don't see why all the sudden a 10 hour game is so crappy.dackchaar
lol i beat halo 3 in 5 hours
so a 10 hour game WITH replay value is fine
