What kind of person gets mad over a review?
Just saying, Gamespot scores have become a joke. They take every popular game that isn't spectacular, slap it with an 8.5 and a 2 page summary and call it a day. I remember when people came here for comprehensive, unbiased reviews and detailed scores that actually meant something.
Little Big Planet and Dead Space just scores 9's. Maybe they just feel those two games are better than Fable II and Far Cry II... In fact I think they were all reviewed by different people. Each one of those scores is one person's opinionWhat kind of person gets mad over a review?

I miss the .1 system...BK-Sleeper
I wish scores were non-existent and discussion was based purely on text rather than an articifical numerical value.

And the various rating bars that went with it.
The was the best part of writing reviews for me. Actually putting down the entire review itself then setting the bars and seeing what the end score was.
Now I don't even bother with writing my own reviews because it won't be exactly matching the score.

that would actually be pretty cool and awesome. However, this is bussiness. They need to give scores to the games in order to create certain speculation about a game, thus, giving it better or worse sales :)

Reviews online have absolutely no influence on sales.
50 Cent: Bulletproof was panned by critics and was one of the best selling games in 2005? 2006?
Psychonauts was adored and celebrated by critics, but completely ignored by consumers.
The only way a game will sell is with advertising dollars and/or if that game as an established pedigree. Very rarely do games sell based on reviews but rather word of mouth from a select niche which is how Halo and Guitar Hero got their start as major franchises.

Im not saying that reviews are the only variable in the sales' equation. Advertising and marketing play a big role as well, however, reviews arent ignored by consumers. There are some kinds of consumers (forgot the name) that like to research before they buy something, therefore, reviews are within such research ^_^
I just dont like marketing... its cheap... and brainwashing lol

Well so far on Gamerankings Dead Space is rated better as well, so take that as you will.
if fable 2 had gotten .5 more of a score , there would be no discussion, god SW is a sad little place. Where nerds and geeks argue about decimal differances in scores, suck a sad pitiful place. Im gonna stop comming here loljeezers
There's something really funny about the idea that people actually feel the need tot ype something like this out.

If Richie Secson's batting Average was .15 points higher, it'd be the same as Ichiro's, though Ichiro is a great hitter, while Richie Sexson is out of baseball.

or the 5 star system! i agree though scores are stupid. and it makes me laugh when the people on these boards say that the .5 system is so flawed and should go bakc to the .1 system. they forget that reviews are for the general public not system wars fanboys

Well i can safely say Dead Space deserved the 9, Id give it 9.5. Best game ive played since MGS4, Im getting Far Cry 2 and Resistance 2 aswell hopefully by the end of the year :)
The topic title did make me
I was thinking, if a system out for a least a year; wouldn't an average score of 8.5 for the systems entire games library be one heck of a gaming library ? :o
Someone get crackin on the number crunching and see what system comes closest to averaging an 8.5. :P

That would be cool, it would eliminate rampant and ludacris cries of "teh ownage" when a hype prediction fails by the slimmest of inseconsequential numerical values. Please Log In to post.
