Surprisingly, I'm less worried about the shooting and aiming mechanics, and I'm more worried about the button configuration altogether. For those that don't know, you aim with the IR sensor in the Wii Remote, shoot with the A button, jump with the B trigger, fire missiles with the d-pad (by pressing down), and change visors and such with the - button. Now, what worries me particularly, is the last two things I mentioned. Previous reviews from Gamespot regarding FPS controls on Wii have complained more about the button configuration than the new point and shoot controls. They've praised that aspect of the control schemes, saying that it is better than dual analog, but they have also complained about how having to reach further down the remote for a certain button can mess up your aim and is uncomfortable... and frankly, I have to agree. As smart of a design as the remote shape of the controller is, it is uncomfortable and horrible to have to reach down to the bottom of the remote just to hit a certain button. Luckily, using the d-pad to shoot missiles isn't that terribly bad, but using the other buttons may cause problems. Gamespot has whined about it before, and I'm sure they won't hesitate to do it again. However, given that the buttons at the bottom of the remote aren't used as frequently is a good thing.

What do you think? I'm a bit skeptical of that part of the controls, but otherwise the aiming looks fluid.

There's not much you can do about it. I don't know how hard Gamespot can hit it on account of that, but thats just the controllers configuration. They'd be complaining about hardware if they said " Its annoying to hit the 2 buttton". Well, what other button are you going to hit? Its just the way the controller is configured

Down on the D-pad and the + and - buttons are easy. If you had to hit 1 and 2 to do those things it would be a different story.

To change visors and such, you hold down a button and move to a section of the screen with the pointer. Thus they sum up what previously was 4 buttons into 1.

I've actually picked up the wii remote and find no problem reaching from the A button to the minus and down buttons. It's the same general idea as reaching from the a button to the y button

1up said the controls take a little time to get used to, but GT said they were pick up and play.

I hate the + and - buttons on the wii, and the d pad as well. The only way I could see the wii mote is used effectively with a fps if they use the nun chuck z and c buttoln to do those moves. I actually hated the + and - key when I palyed zelda tp (could never remember which one does which for some reason).

i haven't seen anyone complain in terms of

"oh i was too busy trying to reach for this plus or minus button in the heat of a battle and died"

it's more like... hey.. these buttons aren't the most comfortable to reach for, but atleast they're not mapped to important things you would need in the middle of combat
