Step aside Nintendo, Emotiv's got dibs on the ultimate game controller right here with their Project Epoc. It's basically a headset fitted with a bunch of sensors that "read" your mind and let you control video games (be it from your console or PC) via your thoughts. Did I mention it can do this wirelessly? Though it looks like a torture device, the concept is pretty sweet. It'll be demoed at the Game Developer's Conference next week

I fail to see how it would work.. it would read brain activity, not thoughts.. and seeing as most humans are incapable of telepathy.. I don't know how in hell it could work.

Well, I hadn't thought of that one, but you know what I mean. If I was unfortunate enough to be in that state, I would love the prospect of being able to play Crackdown and jump all over that city.

Well, There are robotic arms that can be controlled by human minds(and monkeys). So it's not impossible to control games the same way.

It won't really matter if you can't properly mass produce the device, and that technolgy is still way off from actully being able to use it for games the way it is needed.

I don't know about you, but when I play sports games I go into this subconcious state in which I absolutely thrash any player that dare oppose me. However, if I went into the said state with this thing on, well...

Still, I have to have one of these. The only problem I see is developers would need to create an animation for everything, raising the age rating of every game to an 18. Say, Mini Mouse strips and ur, well Micky and the bed, well...

They forgot to add the virtual reality glasses to the front. Could you imagine it, a paralyzed person, Steven Hawkings for example, straps this on and is able to vanquish those Covenant scum like every other person.

I read about this kind of thing a lot, and the tech is nowhere near ready for a gaming application yet.

Those robotic arms are controlled by microchips inserted into specific regions of the brain.

That is freaky...I don't think it will work (properly ) though. Anyway if you could create your own moves and stuff that would be too cool.

With my mind? That sounds boring. If it reads the brain patterns as I move my hands (with nothing in them), and then moves the hands on screen, that would be cool.

Hahah, reminds me of the Nintendo ON-- you know, the video that had to be done from within Nintendo and was what should have released instead of the Wii.

Down here in aus theres a science lab thing called questicon, it has a thing similar to this and i can tell you now it wouldnt work anywhere near what people would hope it will. Concept is good though, maybe one day they'll be able to have a proper working version but even still playing with a controller/keyboard and mouse > playing with your head in my oppinion.
