A new low for console standards, BF1 PS4 drops to 160x90 (one sixty by ninety) res.

Pixel counts indicate that conquest mode in Battlefield 1 on PS4 uses a dynamic resolution. The lowest and highest pixel counts found during regular gameplay were approximately 1100x620 and 1807x1014 respectively. There also appears to be a rare bug that causes the resolution to drop to an extremely low pixel count for a short period of time as can be seen here http://imgur.com/a/jHoB2. The lowest pixel count found during this drop is about 160x90.

Besides not being able to hold the 60fps target, the game also drops below 720p in normal circumstances. First game to ever do that on PS4.

@mr_huggles_dog: Hopefully it's just a bug. But it's not a typo. Check the link given by the OP. The 3 images on the imgur have very low resolution to the point you can see the pixel squares while the HUD, text and minimap are scaled at 1080p.

Bug is a bug, it will be fixed so that isn't important. But seeing BF1 running under 720p is absolutely pathetic. Wasn't this shit supposed to be 900p locked on the ps4? wtf happened? 640p is unplayable, my eyes wouldn't appreciate.

The gap between pc and console widens everyday. The only one worth anything is Nintendo because they have what's called pride in their work, the others are greedy assholes.

DICE's Frostbite engine has always had a rather varied framerate yet it actually does a great job feeling smooth regardless. Most glaring issue of course will be the horrendous variable resolution glitch which hopefully gets fixed.

The most important thing here is the frame pacing, which is keeping between the 16.7/33.3 milliseconds rather than going higher.

So if it drops that low on the PS4, does that mean on the weaker Xboner it will drop into negative resolution?o_0

And people don't think the Pro and Scorpio will replace the PS4 and X1? They don't need to formally "drop support" for them - it's going to organically happen over the next couple of years as the newest titles run like increasing ass on them, motivating devs to say "yeah no, we're lazy and overbudget already - we're not optimizing for that thing". PC gamers are already used to this in some form - it's the sliding window of GPU tech. Games at some just become impractical for a radeon HD7850 or 7790 to run at 1080p(ish).

I like my PS4 plenty - and there are many games I look forward to buying for it still, either already released or coming up. But time wears all things down

All the negative reports are coming for the ps4 because they were actually capable of booting up the game on that console.

Haven't played it but from the video footage it looks like a game from 10 years ago. I assume it doesnt look that bad on PC.

How bizarre, you'd think they'd have set a max and min range for the dynamic resolution so it wouldn't drop too far or go too high.

I'm glad you brought this up because I was under the impression that 900p, 30fps was the lowest they would go anytime soon, but I guess not!

I was feeling comfy knowing that my computer is more powerful than the ps4; but now I'm thinking of upgrading sooner because the ps4 really isn't a quality standard!
