A Price Drop + Launching Halo 3 = Game Over Sony

If Sony did not reduce their price for the next upcoming holiday season, so by October 2007, can anyone disagree with said statement?

Even a reduction to $349 and the launch of Halo 3 would be a devistating blow to Sony.  Especially since most of the key titles that Sony could compete with are not scheduled till 2008 (MGS4, DMC4, RE5, FFXIII).

Sony must reduce the price ASAP to get more systems out there, anyone, cows included, disagree with this?

I wouldn't call it game over, but they would be in some pretty serious trouble.  Oh, and RE5 is on the 360.

True, but it helps having it on their console as well, just like GTA4, which I forgot to include in the 2008 mix.

I get tired of hearing...When 360 lowers their price or when the PSP lowers their price...The 360 is finally making money on the system costs do you think they will lower the price...when the 360 has yet to make any money overall? They are not lowering there price deal with it....They are going to have to compete with hold on wait for it GAMES

it would hurt sony yes. but i don't know about game over. as you said MGS4, DMC4, RE5, FFXIII are all scheduled for 2008 just knowing that those are coming out the next year is huge for Sony.. informed gamers would have a hard time choosing between 1 game now and 4 games in the future. those that already have a 360 would definately pick up Halo, but how much of MS's hidden fan base still hasn't made the jump from Xbox(hidden) to 360?

most of sony's fanbase is holding out of better games(or a price cut). will, Halo+price reduction, be enough to tempt those that haven't already converted to next gen... i think some will but most(51%+) i think will continue to hold off.

This gen is all ready saturated with FPS. Expect, Halo 3 to lose a lot of 'swagger' from other shooters. Primely, you can blame GeoW and Crysis.shungokustasu
