Gears 2 won't score a 10, it'll have to do much more than blood/gore and pretty graphics, keep in mind, reviewers won't let the game slip through the cracks due to pretty graphics, this time, imho.

as for story, i don't expect much from a macho shooter like gears, it'll still most likely be shallow and have its far share of cheesy humor. and most likely force an emotional conflict with the characters, thanks to MGS4 raising the bar..but that won't work for obvious reasons.

this is just my opinion i see a 9.0-9.5.

Metroid Prime 2 was everythigng we wanted and more. Any dissapointment people felt was totally irrational due to UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS.

MGS4 was not that good. The acting was awful, the dialog was cheesy, and the cut-scenes were drawn out and boring. If this is the bar that MGS4 has set, I'm glad Gears 2 will stay comfortably away from it.

Comparing Gears to Gears 2 before release is kinda funny. I'm not saying it's gonna get 10's, but I bet you it will be in competition with Fallout 3 and GTA4, and MGS4 for GOTY. It may win, tho Fallout will probably get it.

The story premise was good (Man wrongly imprisoned for helping his father and his eventual redemption to his superiors and himself), and there were parts in the game that told the story well, but overall, the game failed to deliver the narrative to the best it could.

It could have had a very great story that worked on multiple levels, but too often the game let opportunities for narration slip away.
