I own an N64 and I bought a Wii at launch. I completely missed the GC era of consoles and so it's good to go back and try out all those gc games i missed by using the Wii's backwards compatability.

The reason i'm asking is because this is the most successful Nintendo console since the SNES and it looks set to have a far better software library than either the N64 or GC. I find it strange that so many sheep are abandoning Nintendo now when they're dominating so much

Yup. I had a N64 and while I loved it, it was clear Sony just had more games than Nintendo. So I moved to Sony next gen(PS2). Now I got a Wii, which for me has the entire GC library to back up it's own games. Plus a 360 too. Yay!

I had a N64, but sold it quickly for a Ps1 and never regreted it.

I had a GC, but I loved my PS2 a lot more.

I love my Wii and have no intrest in the PS3 what so ever.

Yea good point, There was a large outcry from some gamers who felt that Nintendo was abandoning them by shifting their focus to casual gamers.

I have been with Nintendo every step of the way since the NES days, and with the Wii they lost my support. Good going Nintendo, your strategy is ostricizing those of us who helped you get to where you are today.

exactly.

I gave up on Nintendo when I bought a Playstation, which was even before I got an N64. They just don't care about moving beyond what they do really well.

i never had a cube or 64 but i have a wii.

there was really no point in owning a cube or 64 in australia. they both sold so terribly that most stores never bothered to stock games for them. the wii is a different story.

I owned a N64, and played the GC a good amount a friends house.

Personally, Nintendo lost my respect with the Wii. It was faltering after the Gamecube, but the Wii... ugh... I've played it, as I do with all consoles before I buy them, and it just didn't feel right... I got tired of the same games, and the controller just feels tacky to me.

Yes, my family and myself have been enjoying Wii since launch and it's great... there's a lot of rubbish available for it (which should be avoided), but the 'good stuff' is very good... Wii is well worth having...

I have been and will continue to buy Nintendo systems until I come across one that disappoints me software-wise. So far, the Wii has lived up to the Nintendo quality I expect.

That's not to say I'm not going to buy other systems, just that Nintendo is always in my collection.

I bought a Wii at launch.

Nintendo's first party alone is enough to warrant owning their consoles.

I hear a lot of people saying that the Wii has "only casual games". So far the system has had Mario Galaxy, Zelda TP, No more heroes, Trama Center, Trauma center New Bood, Monkey Ball, Battalion Wars 2, Fire Emblem, RE4, Zack+Wiki, Warioware, Medal of honor Heroes and probably a few others i forgot to mention.

Upcoming there is a new game from treasure, a new game from inis, a new game from Kojima, a new game from Retro, a new game from Yasumi Matsuno and a new game from Factor 5. Namco have made it a focus for RPGs, Squareenix have called it one of their "main platforms". The machine is just over a year old

Can someone tell me how the Gamecube or N64 were better?

I bought an N64 and Gamecube at launch and i honestly think the first year of those two consoles were far better than the wii's. I'm not enjoying the wii as much as i hoped i would and so i mostly use it for playing gamecube games. I believe that in time it will be an incredible console but so far i am not impressed.

Games perhaps? N64 games > Wii Games

GC Games > Wii Games

I know the Wii has been out for only a year, but that's my answner as to why they are better than the Wii, get back to me in a couple years.

yes I got a wii at launch. I am really into nintendo's franchises. I really can't imagine spending a gen without mario, link and the rest. I also really like the wii, although this gen I'm going multiconsole for the first time, although I've often been able to play other consoles. (PSWii FTW!)

Super Smash Brothers

Mario Kart 64

Blast Corps

Zelda: Majora's Mask

Banjo Kazooie

Wave Rave 64

Star Fox 64

Star Wars Rogue Squadron

I am a former NES and SNES fan that abandoned the N64 and Gamecube in favor of PS1 and PS2. I only returned to Nintendo for the DS and Wii.

Nes to SNES to GC owner..... i'm actually kind of happy it turned out this way. None of nintendos franchises feels too overused to me... Sure, i only have 2 wii games (Zelda and Metroid) but i'm enjoying it still. And i'm also playing a lot of GC games cuz well, they're still fun. anyway, i plan on buying SSBB and thats probably it for most of hte year on wii. if some games go down in price i'll get them (fire emblem, resident evil UC, mario galaxy) but for now i'm too tight on cash to buy any games.

Oh, and i have a DS, with 8? games or more, i don't remember, but they are all amazing games. i hope to buy fire emblem DS and maybe ninja gaiden if its longer than the mentioned 4-5 hours.
