When one of your consoles is connected to your HDTV. For example, PS3. Then you want to play a game on the 360. Do you always remove the cable at the back of your TV every time you want to play on a different platform then switch it to the 360? Or do you have a switch box or something? Or each of your console has HDTV? Or you use your Computer Monitor? :P

My TV has 4 HDMI connections. I have my PS3 in one and the 360 in another. When I want to switch I simply change the source input from HDMI1 to HDMI 2 or vice versa. Some early TVs came with one HDMI port, most new ones come with multiples. You can also buy a HDMI switch that enables you to switch between the singnal without changing cables.

I use HDMI for PS3 and the component HD cables for 360. HDMI is way too dark for my 360 and I'm much too lazy to adjust it.

Some have multiple ports, or you can get a HDMI switcher which you can connect multiple devices too.

Yeah, I purchased my Sony Bravia 46in about 2 years ago, so it only has 2 HDMI ports, so I don't have to switch between my Bluray player, and 360.I use component cables for my HDTV Cable service, since it is only broadcast in 1080i anyways. It was just a bit harder to hide those wires when I mounted it on the wall. I plan on upgrading and getting a 55in Toshiba 240 hz, then put the 46 in the room, and that thing has about 5 or 6 HDMI ports.

Who has a TV that only has 1 connection?

Almost all TVs will have HDMI and component so you can have both connected at once.

Oh my goodness. I would never deal with that, ever.:?

In the unlikely event that I bought or owned an ill equipped Television set that FAILED to suit my gamer needs, I would go buy a Switch box for my consoles. :|

With that miraculous $20 or less switchbox purchase all would be rectified. Imagine a world of console gaming, with mere press of a button, I would be able to play whatever console I wanted without fumbling around with cables, in the back of a dusty ass TV, all the time. Besides, I would be running the risk of getting ill breathing in all the dust all the time, I could be strangled by my AV cords fumbling around like that, and I run the risk of damaging my AV cables or TV inputs by constantly and clumsily plugging and unplugging cables in and out of the TV set.

What a nightmare scenario.

HDTV or regular old TV, there is no reason anyone should be living like that, ever.

well, i still do the old fashioned composite connections. however, i bought a switch selector at best buy. pretty nice. i can change sources at the press of a button. they make hdmi ones now, and i think if you look around, you can sometimes find a bargain.

I have PS3 connected into HDMI, Xbox 360 into one set of component, Wii into the other set of component. I just have to switch the input on my TV settings each time.

The only time I have to switch a cable is the optical cable for my surround sound system between the 360 and PS3, which is not very often. I could get a switch for that, but I don't think I'll bother.

Switch.

My HDTV is old and only has two HDMI inputs, so the cable box gets one while the consoles/computer share the other.
