You're still allowed to say "damage control", though, right? Just not by itself?XGuNn3rX
apparently you must state sometime else other than that alone
You're still allowed to say "damage control", though, right? Just not by itself?XGuNn3rX
as long as there's more content to your post then just accusing somebody of doing damage control.

thats right. like so: hmm, the price of oil is *DAMAGE CONTROL* increasing. what do you say jeeves? jk tho...people claim it to much when its just an opinion disagreeing with the original poster.
You're still allowed to say "damage control", though, right? That's just what I was about to ask but I see you've already answered it.
Can you also ban the phrase "/thread"? I find it more annoying and irritating than "damage control".TrueReligion_Seconded. For real.
Can you also ban the phrase "/thread"? I find it more annoying and irritating than "damage control".OfficialJabSeconded. For real. thats just damage control [/thread] but i really agree those things are noobish and should be ended. lets save room on the forums for legitimate agreement/disagreement

that already gets modded when used by itself or in content free posts.

Yes, I know that; but people normally type out their post and finish it off with "/thread"....can't you do something about that? Nobody really uses "/thread" by itself. So I can claim damage control and go on to counter their argument?foxhound_fox
yes...when done in a way that's not obvious that you're just trying to accuse them of damage control.
Can you also ban the phrase "/thread"? I find it more annoying and irritating than "damage control".OfficialJabSeconded. For real. Should peoples speech really be banned simply because it "annoys" a few people? In the real world, there are many annoying things that people do, in fact in system wars there are tons of annoying things. But I can't stand behind banning anything that doesn't overtly violate the ToU. People are attempting to broaden the ToU's definition to make more and more language a violation, and it just seems a little bizarre. Shouldn't people be responsible not just for what they type, but also for how they intepret what is before them. If someone is emotionally devasted by reading someone else's innocuous comments, who's fault is that? The author's? Or the readers?
wow. I've never even used the term in my life, but not really understanding the reason behind being moderated for using it. People post all sorts of things that mean the same thing. Could someone clarify what the big deal is? I can't see what the real difference is from using that term to posting any term without additional comments. Why is this one so special?klactose
it's being done too often.

Yes, I know that; but people normally type out their post and finish it off with "/thread"....can't you do something about that? Nobody really uses "/thread" by itself. I don't see what the problem is... Why does it even bother you? Because it ruins the thread, and I consider it trolling/annoyance to other users.So...This = bad :
Dead rising and Lost planet are announced to stay exclusive to the 360
Who care about dead Rising and Lost planet anyway , we have way better games on PS3
DAMAGE CONTROL .

And that quite a good move by MS , Taking away , and keeping away , the good games from the PS3 .

How about:
"Damage Control
/thread"
???
Two trolls for the price of one, see I'm thinking about gamespot, less spam but more umph!!

neither would be good because you're still accusing them of damage control without adding anything to it and therefore trolling. reducing somebody's comment to damage control without explaining why is what we're trying to avoid. it shouldn't be in caps either.
So I can claim damage control and go on to counter their argument?CaseyWegner

Honestly I don't understand the moderation for both "damage control" and "/thread"
I agree it's used a lot but you know what, more then half of the stuf I see in SW is something you can say should havethe same result. Like people claiming "ownage" for anything or people saying xflop or portstation or a million things.
I mean if you want to go into detail probably half of everything you see would be moderated by the same logic of saying something without backing it up etc...
I think there's way too moderation on this forum honestly, I mean the more and more we do the more it just makes the forum less free speech. I know that may sound dumb but unless someone is being racist, sexist, blatantly mean like telling someone to kill themselves or whatever, or obvious injustice you would see banned on the net then I don't see a need to moderate it. If someone wants to say I suck or my idea sucks or my favorite game they can do it, they have the right to do it, I also have to right to ask why in which then they should tell me or why or look like a kid for just saying " you suck." But that person shouldn't be modded just for saying it. We have to have thicker skin then that, just to mod more and more and more things.
I'm sure what I'm saying the mods think is wrong and I know nothing and nothing will change but I hate to see more and more moderation, it just makes it less enjoyable overall for me. And eventually the moderation will go to far because it's all up to the mods judgement IMO.
I think people should feel free to speak their mind like you can on the net except for the swearing. I mean go ahead say my game sucks, or I'm a moron for buying the 360. I will just prove you wrong by debating you. However you if you say I'm a paki for being brown skin or something dumb like that then you should be modded and dealt with it.
I said before there should be an instigator rule but I don't think there should be really. I only said that cause people are being modded after trying to debate with a person who's just there to make people angry and they loose it themselves and are modded for it. Well if that's the case then the person obviously making threads to annoy people should be modded too, just makes sense like in hockey if you are just out there to start a fight you get the instigator penalty. But it goes back to should the people posting to the flamebait be modded just cause they lost it in the heat of arguing with flamebaiter and said something like "you're so stupid I can't believe this thread" for example. I mean to me that's wrong. People loose it sometimes and i'm sure you'll say then don't post but like half of this forum is crazy threads and flamebait. Why not just let people post and let it be, if people go to far and say "you should be killed" lol or something like saying like questoning their sexual orientaton then that's too farÂ
Anywho that's my opinion thanks for reading if anyone read it all hahaha I blab on too much when I'm serious about a topic oh boy.
Casey can you please unfloat some of these threads? Noone even remembers the Spore developer's comment about the Wii anymore:|FrenziedRaldo24
What is that about anyone, you can't quote what he said and something? Why is that I don't understand. Did he say something offensive?Â

He said some nasty things about it, the wii kids aren't allowed to see that sort of language.Â

By that token, shouldn't have -Ramirez- been suspneded/banned? I notice when someone DOES use a logical and concise argument to show the flaws in his points, his most common response is "oh that's some nice damage control there", without rienforcing why it's damage conttrol, or for that matter making a clear rebuttal. Plus he often makes genral posts laughing at all the replies in his Topic, with general statements like "So far all the lemmings have been damage controlling and not offering any logical counters to my points", when in fact the replies have been.
I feel compelled to point this out because my observation is he's one of the worse "damage control" offenders.Â

He hates the Wii or something? Was he like swearing or something? :o Why would he say something so bad they would ban it in some places? Â
can someone explan the concept of damage control to me?im sorry,i just dont stay on here long enough.guitboxdude25
In all honestly, everything around here is basically 'damage control.' It's basically a term that people use to accuse someone of trying to clean up the mess of the respective console they defend. Which is what constructing a post to counter someones point basically is.
I mean, we don't make threads around here so everyone can agree with everyone. It wouldn't be System Wars then.

Grrrr. I think you use that post on me like 10 times. I like T.O. and think the PS3 is just like him. The best, but people love to hate them.

Man if that isn't selfownage I don't know what is lol. People don't love to hate T.O they they hate him because he's an ignorant, egotistical, under performing, obnoxious, attenion whoring moron. To say that T.O is the best is laughable with all of those dropped passes he had this season. To say T.O is like the PS3 is a straight diss against the PS3 period.
Â
What about Floppage Control? The rule is laid downed flat on what is a flop on SW. Do we have to keep telling people over and over on the rules of flop games on SW?shungokustasu
