As some of you know, I'm traditionally a Sony gamer... but I'll be damned if the Switch doesn't just look great.

If Sony is focused on games as an art form, and Microsoft is focused on eSports (and power, now), Nintendo just seems focused on bringing games back to what they used to be: just fun.

For example: A horde mode where you collect fish eggs against mutant salmon? Why not. A platformer with a sentient cap? Go for it.

And their indie lineup is freaking incredible. Mr. Shifty, Shakedown Hawaii, Fast RMX...

I might be cheating on my cow family here soon.

I know, I know. "Cool story, lady." Just had to express myself.

As a Switch owner, I would day wait until the year end and see how things go the line up certainly looks exciting. Right now there isn't a whole lot of variety and the online hasn't even launched properly yet.

Have a wait but keep your eye on it. E3 will be very interesting for Nintendo this year. :)

Nintendo makes a great secondary system... usually.

So far the NS is looking like it has a bright future. At least, brighter than Wii-U's ever was.

Only 10 days till I give my family their new Nintendo. I was waiting until Mario Kart released so it felt like a family system instead of just another game that dad plays (Zelda). It's been hiding in the top of my closet since launch.

I'm planning a large clue/scavenger hunt across the town for my 4 and 10 year olds. Making a day of fun going to places like the park, McDonald's and Cold Stone. Then when they follow the clues back home there will be the system, games and accessories in a large box crafted to look like a Mario Item box.

Looking forward to it.

I'm not interested in Switch but it has inadvertently got me interested in the Nvidia shield portable. It's Android and you can stream PC games to it. Wish the Switch was Android.

I say go for it. Although if you don't have money to burn, maybe wait until Fall. The summer releases will be out and you won't have long to wait for the Winter ones. I'd say wait until Winter but the holiday season seems like a time Switch will have more stock issues.

yea, after the last direct they pretty much showed a very nice lineup of games for this year and this is before e3.

as long as they dont make a seperate dedicated handheld splitting resources. the switch will be a wonderful system.

I don't know, after the honeymoon period the Switch just seems like every other console to me:

- Expensive hardware, with much needed peripherals (a second controller, memory stick) sold seperate

- Lack of games

- And last but not least: the price increase for Switch games (because they are now on a cartridge, or really whatever reason they can pull out of their hat)

I doubt see the point in waiting until Fall - summer is fast approaching, but that makes perfect time to play BotW. Plus, Mario Kart is about to hit, and then Splatoon in the middle of freaking July...

Might make sense to go for it now, before the Fall AAA bonanza begins.

How many times does Nintendo has to disappoint before people realize they should stop buying their half-asses systems? It's getting silly now. Nintendo needs to get out of the hardware business for home consoles.

@tjandmia: I'm not disappointed in the Switch at all. I take it everywhere with me.

And thanks to the Joycons it allows me to be playing multiplayer in seconds.

The console is only going to get better when more games come out. And judging by their line up this year they are coming and more will probably be announced at E3.

For the life of me I cannot see the appeal of this system.

It's a barren wasteland in the games department. The hardware is a GOD damned joke for a home console. The system is overpriced for what it is.

It's just as gimmicky as the Wii and WiiU.

I guess asking for a straight forward home console that has the power to at least run multiplats is too much to ask from Nintendo.

I got a Switch at launch for Zelda. If not for Zelda, I wouldn't even buy one right now. It is good, but unless you must have portable versions of your games, you are better off playing games on PC and the other consoles. I can only recommend it to people for the exclusives and if portable gaming is important to them.

Well, you don't sound like one of those people who would buy it complain that it doesn't 20 games they want afterwards so yeah get it now then if you can. Especially if you're really looking forward to Splatoon 2 and want to hop on the online while it's new.

I was pretty down on the Switch when it was first announced. I was annoyed that it wasn't aimed specifically at me and my gaming preferences.

But the lure of Zelda was to great and I got a great bonus at work so bought one a few weeks ago and I have to say I absolutely love it.

I really didn't think the portability would be something I would use but it has been great to be able to just put some headphone on and have the odd hour here and there when the wife is watching her shit TV and my daughter is in bed. Or if I have a day off I can stay in bed and have a couple of hours. In fact the 20 or so hours I've played so far has been 80% portable.

Great fun!

You can find all those "fun" mini games on Steam for free or as low as 1$ to 5$. If you want to collect fish eggs and such things... You dont need to spend 350$ plus 10-15$ or more to play .... shovelware or A games.

So please now with "fun" ... You remind me Wii on its early days with people calling wii sports ... fun ... Behave !

Arms does look really neat, and Splatoon 2 should be one of the better games this year since Splatoon 1 was one of the better games in 2015, but as someone who bought it under the mantra of "I got money to spend, and I like having access to all the machines", so far it has barely been worth turning on besides Zelda, and I could have played Breath of the Wild on WiiU. It wasn't like the framerate on the Switch is acceptable.

As far as the first party exclusives, eh I would always rather have Nintendo's offerings than the other 2. Microsoft's IPs come off old n stale while having franchises younger than the ones Nintendo has, and in the case of Sony's first party, it's usually a lot of stuff that looks pretty, but is mediocre at best to play.

I like my Switch and I only really play Snipperclips, Metal Slug, and the Tetris Demo on it. Zelda was meh to me. I can't wait for more games that I'm into to drop on this thing.

Only worry with the Switch is that MS or Sony will copy it and do it better. Kinda crossing my fingers that they don't now

Thats the price should be cost .. Should i mention that such kind of titles are Free 2 play on PC ? Splatoon 2 might be fun though but again , in my opinion , ... Buying a seriously overpriced peice of hardware for games like Splatoon 2 and myriad of A games not even AA .. ehmm just because Splatoon 2 or a new Mario ? Ehmm

I want to see way more than that , sorry. Even Wii U had its Mario and Splatoon and Zelda. So what ?

Sorry ill pass , ill stick to Renting for now. Nintendo needs to try way harder with new AAA caliber IPs like BOTW is.

If a title is an AAA or not depends from its production values and not persons taste. Period.

Overwatch could have been easily a free to play game too , yes. What would you value it as ? 60$ AAA game ? Do you even know Blizzards "excuse" over Overwatch not being a free to play game before you do this question to me ? If not go search about it and laugh out loud and try again.

Mad ? I dont even care , why to be mad. And how exactly im wrong here ? lol

First of all little shit/sheep ( you choose that ) , dont put words im my mouth or talking out of your ass. All i did with Splatoon is i questioned its multiplayer success because i consider successful multiplayer games to stand thru the years and expand their playerbase and not be in a decline after few months because all you had to say back then , if you remember , was Splatoon being the best multiplayer game and that it sold great etc ... rofl.

Few examples about what i mean : League of Legends , Dota 2 , Counter Strike 1.6 , Counter strike Go , Path of Exile etc

Piece of little sheep ( or shit if you keep telling lies like that in my face about things i never said or when changing points and facts ) , at least if you want to accuse me about something , be real and dont try to make me look bad with things you saying out of your little ass please. Thnx

Oh and for the record , after less than 2 years , care to tell me if Splatoon expanded its playerbase as we speak or it shrunk thru time ? You see sheephead ? My point back then , was on point dont you think ? Except if Splatoon sales as we speak going up rapidly and people keep playing it daily for over 2 years , then i was wrong !!! But we both know im not. Cry me a river now and stop lying like that , you exposing yourself.

@AzatiS: I was just trying to get an understanding of your value towards video games.

My expression was that the budget only denotes how much money went into producing the game. However, the value a game has depends entirely on the player's preference. For example, Grand Theft Auto 5 was an extremely expensive game, but not one I value more than Shovel Knight; a game with a comparatively minuscule budget.

Do you immediately value a game more because it cost more money to make?

No , you choose a title specifically to start an argument. Now , you tell me what Overwatch is. Is it an AAA ?

The value you speaking is not the one im speaking of. What make games AAA is not what you think about them sadly. Period

" Omg , i had a blast with CAT LADY ( you dont even know it i bet ) , AAA game to me"

Are you kidding me now ?

@AzatiS: The amount I get out of a game denotes its worth to me. If I buy a game for 60 euro and only play ten minutes of it, it's more than likely I didn't get good value out of that transaction.

Even if we were talking budgets, Overwatch may be considered AAA. We don't know because the budget has not been revealed, but is estimated to have cost at least $65 million. (source: https://www.quora.com/How-much-did-Blizzard-spend-to-make-the-video-game-Overwatch)

So are we really talking about AAA being budget? Or are we talking about AAA being the quantity of content?

Nah , with that logic Free to play games destroys Splatoon for the reasons i already mentioned.

Why you go away of the original argument you started now ? AAA title is not FARMVILLE just because is FREE 2 PLAY because you get to play thousands of hours and not Resident Evil 7 because its 12. What dont you get here.

Overwatch is not AAA game , Blizzard themselfs said that when thousands of people questioned their decision to go full price for it and all they had to say .. .was one of the most epic fail argument someone could come up with instead of mention development costs.

65 million ? Are you on drugs or wtf ? Tell me please you dont beleive this crap you just posted ! Because i found it ridiculous i just read some of it ... did you read it yourself ? Read it again and try again and come tell me Overwatch is 65million game .. lol.

Ofc an AAA product is considered as such depends its budget , what else is ? AAA being quantity is something you coming up with to win this argument , theres no such thing.

@AzatiS: Well do you know how much Overwatch cost? That's the closest estimation made and it's not my estimation. Keep in mind that this budget likely includes marketing, which was massive for that game.

So I'm a little lost.

So we agree that a AAA game is a game with high production values.

I think our wires cross in our definitions of value. I would like to strengthen my response by saying I value a game not only by how long I play it but also how much fun I had playing it. For example, free to play games like Farmville are typically quite passive experiences. While one can sink many hours into the game, they may not cherish that experience as much as the hours they sank into a comparatively shorter game. Now, Splatoon and Overwatch are both games that people still play actively (as is the nature with competitive multiplayer games). So I'm willing to assume people got their money's worth out of both game despite a number of criticisms denoting the lack of content these games offer.

Let's say a person bought two games. He buys Overwatch and GTA and spends $60 on both. Imagine this person only plays GTA for one hour but he still plays Overwatch. Which would you say was worth the money for this individual?

It seems you are lost yes.

TITAN was an mmorpg that its production values might be 65million which when was canceled they decided to make Overwatch out of it. That doesnt mean OVERWATCH as a game costs 65million to be made. So nothing to be lost here really.

If for example Blizzard was making WoW back in the days with a budget of 100million but then decided to cancel it but keep its ARENA PVP for release ... Does that mean what exactly ?

There isnt any other definition when it c omes to which game is AAA and which not. That doesnt mean you cant have equal or way better fun/addiction with lower quality games. One of my best games that im keep playing constantly thru the years is PATH OF EXILE , a game that used to be far from AAA and is free 2 play. That doesnt make it AAA though even if it scored 9/10 or if i really like the game.

What worths your money is different of what the original argument was. What worths your money wont define which game is AAA. It defines what you like to play or what you think you like ( I thought i would love Diablo 3 for example and was a disaster for me , RIP 60$ )

AAA games dont mean they are great games in the end of the day not A or AA games are bad. There are numerous A/AA games that scored way more and are better than many AAAs. But that doesnt make them AAA.

@AzatiS: What deems them lower quality games? Because it has less of a budget?

But my point doesn't revolve around what is a AAA game, it revolves around how much value you get out of a AAA game. Meaning saying the game has an A budget, doesn't necessarily mean a person won't enjoy it more than a AAA game. :P

This is a stupid argument. Call them AAA, AA, call them whatever you want - Mario Kart is fun, and I want it.

Get whatever sense of superiority from that you like.
