In the end, competition only helps us, the consumers. The more the companies compete for our money, the better quality the products we will recieve. This is what drives developers and companies to push their games and systems farther and farther.

Look at what happened to Madden once the competition was gone. Do you want that to happen to the consoles? If Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft is to fail out of the race what would happen? No longer will the competition be there. System sales are expected to hit well over 200 million this gen. Instead of every company getting around 66 million sales, both system would get around 100 million in sales. This would drastically increase profits and would make the companies not really compete anymore. With a market that large why try to compete and waste more money if you control half of the market and are bringing in billions upon billions each year?

Luckly that isnt going to happen soon. Sony was down a bit but they are coming out swinging with PSHome and rather large list of gaming being launched in the upcoming months. Soon Nintendo and M$ will launch their responses to the PSH.

Just remeber, no matter what happens, it will only benifit us as consumers. If M$ and Sony keep pushing better and better online strategies to get you to buy their console, dont you think you are benifiting from getting the best online possible? If Sony and the Wii are pushing for gameplay innovation with enhanced controls, we will only get the best gameplay experance possible. (ok sony and Nintendo arnt really competeing but you could take it that way, both have their sepearate approaches, that requires another post for me to explain, please dont flame more for that).

In the end competition is only good for us, we should keep pushing for it instead of wanting one console to drop out of the race.

Thaty attitude doesn't fly in this forum, unfortunately.

You're basing your "competition is good" notion on the assumption that the primary concern of this place's membership is the quality of games. That isn't the case..... if the primary concern of this forum's membership was playing great games than fanboyism would simply not exist - one would want to play great games from every platform (the death of the fanboy.) People here want to be on a "winning" team, they automatically discount a huge number of excellent games because they're not available on their platforms of choice. If they cared about great games above all else this wouldn't be the case. What you say is logical but you're completely ignoring the fact that the premise of this forum is completely illogical.

I have been here long enough to know exactly what with board is all about. I also believe that it is necessary to show these fanboys logic, just so it is in the back of their heads and they can think about things in a new way. It never changes their mind, but I always want some sore of logic to float around this chaotic-war torn board that is System Wars.

I agree completely, but when people, like yourself I believe, post random fanboy crap, its hard to have one happy family. I can't stand lemmings that do it and I cant stand cows that do it. You say the 360 has a better GPU, ps3 fanboys will sit there and fight to the death to try and prove otherwise. However, I'll say this...if I had ditched 600 dollars on a console that wasn't living up to a fraction of the hype thus far...I'd be on edge and I'd be backing my purchase all the way. :|

But it makes me feel better if I know I tried. Ask any old poster, even Casey, I have been trying this for several years now.
