becouse, nothing is perfect.

the closest we ever got to perfect whas World in Conflict, it didn't even had a bad section

and yes, I know it is called Prime now, but prime is still perfect if it get's 10/10

when I take a school exam, I can only have a 10 if I make NO mistakes

and since WiC had no bad section, and it is still not AAAA, nothing should be able to be AAAA

Agreed, looking at smash bros brawl and most of the top 10 games.

10/10s .... how can gamerankings mix media that sometimes throws them out easily, and others that NEVER give 10s ...

Gamerankings is beyond flawed.

So what you say is that if a game is really so good that it could not be improved in a meaningfull way it should not get the highest rank?

WiC had flaws, too high requirements, infantry not that useable, several overpowered units. Not gamebraking in any way, but still flaws enough to pull the rating down.

10 SHOULD EXIST, SHOULD BE GIVEN, but not given easily.

the scoring system has changed. Anything above a 9.5 in the old scale could possibly be beefed up to a 10. I.E a 9.8 or 9.9.

Don't look too far into things like "It had no bad section, and got 9.5, therefore you can't get 10."

Halo 3 got a 9.5, and COD4 got a 9.0. But COD4 still got 360 game of the year.

Yea a game should be able to get a 10/10. I just like how GS reserves it for A REALLY AMAZING game.

Like when that "next amazing game" gets reveiwed by gamespy, and they want to say it's like the best game they've ever played, how the hell do they show that? Give it 5/5 like they give all the higher grade games? See gamespot always has that 10 to give out to a game that is THAT AMAZING and desevres some extra attention.

If it's not possible to get a perfect score, than why have a perfect score? Ergo, 10/10 does not mean perfect, because a "perfect" designation is pointless.

WiC didnt get a 10 because it didnt have enough good things to justify a 10.

I write many essays with no grammatical mistakes but that doesnt mean it deserves full marks.

No, you get me wrong. Removing 10 is what people want to do now. I'm saying that we need to keep 10, because a perfect score can't be achieved, making "Perfect" a mystical 11/10 score (didn't SMG get one?).

We will see a 10 this year. Don't know what it will be but I have a feeling with all the changes to Gamespot we will see one. There are just too many heavy hitters coming out this year.

It was 9.5, last I checked. WiC is a 9.5, last I checked, as well. What the sensible people are trying to say is that, since true perfection is unattainable, it's not worth measuring. It's the infinity of game scoring. They want 10 to represent games that, while not absolutely perfect, come as close to it as you would expect from a human effort.

Read the GS's definition on Prime.

There's no point in having a 10 if nothing can achieve a 10. There's little difference between a game that makes few tiny mistakes, and one that makes no mistakes, and they are both deserving of a 10.

And, come on, it's great seeing a game get AAAA, especially if you agree with the score. Why would you try to take that joy away?

Little subtitle aside, 10 never meant a game was perfect. It just meant that the game got a 10 in gameplay, 10 in graphics, 10 in sound, 10 in value and 10 in reviewer's tilt. Getting a full 10 doesn't make the game perfect any more than getting a 10 in graphics means you have perfect graphics that could not be improved upon. There could even be a negatives section for a 10 game. A 10 should absolutely be possible.

If it werent possible developers would loose motivation to push their game to the limits.

We'l see an AAAA game one day, I hope.

We know nothing with absolute certainty. Still we perceive things as certain.
We don't know an absolute perfect game. But we can perceive a game as perfect.
It's our name game. The little deception called reality.

It's not perfect, it means it stands up to be the very best at what it is and in every category for the time of release. Although this is flawed with THPS3...

and WiC wasn't that great...probably one of the worst RTS I've played recently.

EDIT: Oh, perfection doesn't exist, in any way shape or form. It's as incomprehensible as nothingness itself.

Hmmm, the quantum world...uncertainty! I thought this was more akin to relativity! AAAA is an absolute limit. The closer you get to it the more the mass of a game increases, time slows down but most importantly, its length decreases!

errr... no.

here:

10.0: Prime This exceedingly rare score refers to a game that is as perfect as a game can aspire to be at its time of release. Obviously, the constantly changing standards for technology and gameplay will probably make this game obsolete some day, but at its time of release, a game earning this score could not have been improved upon in any meaningful way.

Gamespot explains pretty well why we could indeed see a 10/10

Those extremes exist within extremes as well. An infinite amount of value is an extremity, but 0,999... equals 1. The value 1 contains an endless amount of value. Infinites within infinites. It comes down to Your point of view.
The point of view You address is not the general accepted view of reality. Therefor it is not the way the world appears to them, not valid, as we have nothing more than our impressions of the world to determine everything.

it shouldnt be but yet reviewers every day give out tens, i would think that we all have on some game, but you have to keep in mind that it is possible that a game may get AAAA status most places, its highly highly unlikely though, the game would have to have a huge bugget and an even huger following

AAAA, 10, or what ever u cant to call it, isnt perfect. its a game that blows u away. i dont give a lot of credit to x play that much but they said that a 5 out of 5 doesnt mean that the game's perfect, but the game does so many things so well that they feel that it deserves that score.
