I have access to worldwide sales data ranging from NPD and the PAL Charts.

They really need to release games at the same time as other consoles instead of releasing late ports where the game is no longer in garnering hype.

You would be shocked at how many annoying Nintendo fanboys are running around resetera portbegging for games that they are never going to play. Makes my life very difficult.

Gaming is my passion and I like to express my views on a multitude of forums -- even though I technically work for ResetEra, I am certainly not exclusive to the forum.

Okay, just to give you a heads up, there's no such thing as a Safe Space here, and not many of us is too fond of ERA and it's reputations. But I'll welcome you anyways.

It doesn't help that all those ports are mostly late, expensive and by far the most inferior version out there.

It's hard to pick it up for the switch. even the new wolfenstein 2 i think it is game is a complete and utter garbage version of it.

Now as your topic at hand. Not sure to say why M rated game aren't selling on the switch. Majority of M-Rated titles for the Switch are year plus old ports. Having to double dip for the same game for a high price is a problem.

It's always been this way. Even Nintendo's own "mature" series like Metroid never sell well.

Theres only 3 games that I want for the switch which is why i haven't bought one, the rest are multiplats which ive already got

Yeah, and to be honest it doesn't help that while Panic Button did a great job on the DOOM and Wolfenstein 2 ports, they're still late to the party and the weakest versions of the games...

Marry that with very little original, mature themed games releasing on the Switch and it makes sense that they're not among the higher performing games.

Nintendo fans been in denial for a long time, we already knew they like kiddie games.

Not surprised at all. Most Nintendo fans are manchildren that worship Nintendo or the few unlucky kids that have parents who won't let them play M rated games.

So this has always been a thing with Nintendo consoles, at least since the Gamecube. Where people who don't own a Nintendo platform are constantly telling us that Nintendo needs multiplats because otherwise their platforms have droughts and they're not part of the competition. And then Nintendo platform owners say they can already play those multiplat games on another platform so what's the point.

With the Switch there is a bit of a point. The portability. The ability to play games in bed. And I think that's why indie titles are doing so well on the Switch. But I do agree with other Nintendo platform holders that there is not that much of a reason to buy a multiplat game on the Switch vs the PC for instance. So if Gears 5 comes to the Switch and all the anti-Nintendo people are so excited for the Switch owners... I don't know that Switch owners would be all that excited for it. Even if it were date-to-date and not 2 years after the release on the PC. Because in the case of Doom, everybody who really wanted to play Doom probably already played Doom before it came to Switch.

Add to that the rarity of happy games and I do feel like people want to keep their Switch as their happy relaxing gaming platform that is always there for them when they have to wait somewhere for a long time or when they feel stressed out. Of course there's no way to know the actual motivations here it's all guesswork.

Not like "mature" games are really that mature. Most of it is juvenile in content and story dressed up in violence and gore for a mature rating.

3rd party game AAA is pretty dead on switch for me. Got abundance of japanese shovelware and ports but the amount of good AAA releases had been low. The charts reflect this too.

Outside of Mario rabbits, skyrim, FIFA and bomberman, I dont think there is any other big 3rd party publisher games surpasses 1 million unit on switch. I may be wrong but damn that is such a low number. Also only skyrim representing the mature tag.

Wolfenstein 2 has been out for a week on Switch and a number of reviews say it is a solid port worth playing.

What else is new. Maybe they should make a BJ Amiibo to boost the sales.

I think the biggest reason for this is that their current content is old ports. Traditional third party publishers are approaching the Switch with trepidation.

Plus they are asking $60 for these old ports. Dark Souls is only $40- a much sweeter price point. If that sells well it should be an indicator to other publishers not to charge that much for old games.

Bayonetta? Nintendo even confirmed Bayonetta 2 sold MUCH better on Switch than on Wii U (but I know of TWO Bayo fanboys on here that will see that as a bad thing).

Why pay more for less is my reason for avoiding most multi-plats on Switch.

The data I receive at my job only covers digital games in China and Southeast Asia and is not overly relevant to the console market, so to speak. It's also data I'm not willing or able to discuss here. however.

Truthfully, I can't even go into detail from sources on RE, unless given the okay in advance, but I can help give a clearer picture of the industry.
