So just about everyone who I've met online (meaning xbox live)or talked to in real life (does that place still exist?) has said they really liked this game, if they played it. The internet by contrast, seems to hate it. Well, of course I'm talking about general websites like this. Anyone, for all of you who love to bash on the game- have you actually even played? And I'm talking about the full retail game, more than just a level.

Most people know it as 4.5 The reality is that it's more so known as gods and mechanics.

I never said you should. You, however, aren't one to judge the game. Judging Too Human on a demo is really like judging an RPG on a demo.

I don't think it is horrible but it isn't as great as I hoped for, I can't comment on the story or characters but I didn't lik the gameplay.

I'm going to say that 90% of the people that hate on this game have never played it. Though I'm just speculating. Just like other "Fair" games, Too Human is fun as long as you're willing to put up with it's design flaws.

Me for example, used to be a DBZ fan. So I was able to gain some enjoyment out of the older, crappier games because I was interested in its core values.

I played the demo and enjoyed it but I never bought it and heres why.

1. I hear the enemies level up as your character does, and that in my opionion is the best way to kill a RPG expereince. What is the point of leveling up and becoming a bad ass if you never really get to feel like a badass.

2. The game was planeed to be a trilogy and the game didnt sell that well so we may never get a sequel.

It has loads of flaws and the whole drama with the Unreal Engine/Epic Games hindered the games visuals but I found myself enjoying it. If you can get past the steep learning curve and the laggy menu then you'll find a decent game with lots of loot, co-op and an interesting premise/story.. its actually pretty unique in that respect, a cyber-punk take on Norse mythology. I kind of hope a sequel will come out one day, the game has a lot of potential but unfortunately, Too Human really challenges you to like it.

Too Human wasn't that bad, but it did have some problems:

1. Combat for the most park was a little clunky. Occationally it would be extremely smooth and fun.
2. Status effects lasted WAY too long.
3. The story was a little confusing and really was just a collection of Nordic myths, not really a single set story line until around the end.
4. That insanely long death scene.

Yeah... that got really annoying after a while. Still, it was kind of like the Vitachamber (?) from Bioshock in the way that deaths didn't really bring any penalties. Another thing I will say in favour of Too Human is that it had some very interesting environments. I loved the large scale of some of the levels.

I ended up buying the game for $19.99 a few months ago. The game has a solid core and some great ideas. It just simply didn't run too well and was far too short, even if its ment to be played over and over again. I think they have something great to work with for a sequel and can fix a lot of the issues people had with the game (length, controls, camera, more then 2p online, etc). I still play it once in a while when im too broke to renew my WoW account.

Reviews (especially Gamespot's) were far too harsh on it because it took so long to develop and its creator (dennis dyack) was kind of a jackass leading up to its release. If gaming journalism were more professional it would have received more objective reviews which portrayed it as the flawed but quality game that it is IF AND ONLY IF you're into it. It's not a game for everyone. If loot doesn't interest you, neither will this game.

I played the demo and couldn't even finish it. Mapping attacks to the right stick was a dumb move on Silicon Knights part. I would be very interested in playing the game for the story and the adaptation of Norse mythology, but don't want to play the game it is built around.

If you see it cheap ($5 for example, lol) then pick it up. The controls make a bit more sense after playing it for a while and can actually seem quite fluid... they are a bit of a disaster though, lord knows why they designed the game like that.

Low AA - I'd say 8.1 which technically makes Too Human a great game :)

Me disappointed ? You bet since way before it's launch and knowing SK, I was thinking AAA maybe GOTY.. oh well, still cool game and want a Too Human Too. :D

flawed but quality game = 5.5~6.5, medicore range. One of the biggest complaint of my for Too Human is hot similar each classes are, targeting system's messed up, I can adapt to it, but if you play as a melee, it's almost impossible to break all the armor for the 3rd boss (or 4th? the troll with white armor). Fix the targeting, get more class diversification (hell, even ME did better than them on this one) and you will have a console classic on hand

I agree with this... I enjoyed the game, the controls were fine after an hour of playing.... but the animations were terrible... I think you need the enemies to scale with you though, in this sort of game... otherwise the game would just become way too easy and there would be no challenge. Then again... thats the draw of a loot based game, right.... like Diablo... the goal isn't to finish the game, its to make yourself as bleeping powerful as possible.

that should be enough. I wouldn't want to spend money on a low rated game just to see if it might be good. I've been burned by lower reviews on great games before, but in general the system works. It's what reviews are for, really

Yep, played it quite a bit, and grew to hate it. I really wanted a good Champions of Norath/Diablo type game, too. It showed promise, but there were just too many flaws at every level. From bugs and glitches to even the design of the game, it had serious problems. Not that it didn't have it's moments, but not nearly enough to forgive the lapses.

... Why shouldn't they?.. A demo for a game is suppose to be a promotional product that tries to highlight the great things of the game to make people want to buy it.. If they can't even do that with a demo, why should we expect any different from the full game.. Very rarely do I see a good game have a poor demo, and its usually with smaller 3rd party companies.. Not hyped up titles like Too Human. It would be like takinga sample from a box of cereal only to find out I was chewing glass.. Is it logical that I should buy the box knowing thats what was in the sample?

Biggest flaw imo is the control design right stick? realy realy....but what I think that led to was the poor aiming mechanics which you can adapt to but its not a pleasant experience, the general clunkiness of the controls is most likely the reason for the silly valkyrie mechanic whereby if too human actually punished you for dieing you wouldn't get past the first stage, so instead of redesigning the controls, they simply created a pointless "death" so even though you died due to the terrible nature of the controls you wont care because your alive again 10 seconds later 30 feet from were you died, of course alot of us did care and the games reception reflects this, the story/universe had plenty of potential but they'd be better off going the ME route or even a KOTOR style game, if they want to maintain a melee element to the combat KOTOR style would be a good compromise, the customisation was very good lots of items to play with and probably the best thing about too human.

I enjoyed it. It was a very enjoyable game. It did have SEVERAL flaws though. No huge gamebreaking ones, but when you added them all up ...

I think it deserved a 7 'cause there is fun to be had. Any sequel would hopefully improve on them flaws, and make Too Human the game it was supposed to be.

I agree (about the demo part). I know everyone says don't judge a game by the demo, but if the demo itself was mediocre at best, it doesn't exactly mak me want to rush out and get the game in a heartbeat. IMO, judging from that demo, it was a 6.5 kind of game. The combat was pretty slick, but everything else about the game didn't impress me. Judging that, I wouldn't pay $60 (at launch) on an experience that left a bad taste in my mouth.

I judge most of my purchases off of demos as do many others as well. In the same way that the Too Human demo did absolutely NOTHING to impress me, same is said for GT5P and the GT5 online demo. Silicon Knights talked up Too Human WAY TOO MUCH for its own good. Just as Factor 5 did with Lair. In the end, they couldn't deliver on their hype and the game got the score it deserved. Just let it die cause at least the cows have let Lair and Haze go....

I never said you should. You, however, aren't one to judge the game. Judging Too Human on a demo is really like judging an RPG on a demo. ImageChef

Many rpgs have good demos..... Plus how else would someone judge a game without actually buying/renting it? The try the demo, then look at reviews and videos and basically if it looks bad, and plays bad (from their experience with the demo) and is reviewed badly they will obviously skip it.
