Activision is going to release a New Call of Duty and Guitar Hero in 2010

"Activision: New Call of Duty, Guitar Hero in 2010

November 5, 2009 - During Activision's 3rd quarter financial call this afternoon, chief financial office Thomas Tipple highlighted the company's outlook for 2010, and confirmed a slew of new titles, including a new Call of Duty and Guitar Hero game.

"In 2010, Activision publishing is expected to release a strong product line of innovative new titles," Tipple said. "The diversified lineup will include, among others, titles based on the best-selling franchises in the company's history, including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Shrek, and Spiderman, and a select few new intellectual properties such as Blur and Singularity, and a strong catalog based on our top sellers of 2009."

One possible developer for the new Call of Duty is Treyarch studios, which previously developed Call of Duty: World at War in 2008, and recently finished up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare -- Reflex due out next week for Nintendo Wii."

BTW Sorry if this has been posted here before. My thoughts on this in my honest opinion is that they need to take a break from these games. I mean they are becoming like the new EA sports where they are always released every year and soon these franchises will suck just like what happened to the last Tony Hawk games. But anyways,what are your views on it?

And yes I know they always do that to these games every year but I still felt like posting this article ether way.

I hate MW2 but I have more respect for IW than Treyarch.. Treyarch had two years to make WAW and all they added was a COD4 re-skin and nazi zombies and then milked the people who actually bought the game with like 4 map packs?!? Why did anyone buy that KingBungie

It would have been worth it if it was on the PC because they didn't have to pay for DLC or the countless mods that came out for free.

We have had a new CoD and a new Guitar Hero every year for quite some time now. If people buy them I don't see the problem. Activison always seems to release solid games as well. CoD WaW was really good and GH5 was also excellent.

...this is definitely news worthy.

COD and Guitar Hero are planned to be released until 2015 and most likely beyond that.

In COD8, the guns are going to shoot for you. Kind of like that MGO mod where the gun aims and shoots by itself and all you have to do is spot an enemy. The sad thing about it? People are still going to eat it up saying "I buy games to have fun"

Activision as a whole isn't innovative. They just keep milking the same franchises and rarely stray from that path. I can see why because it isn't a game to take big gambles on new IPs, but those guys seem to have no confidence. As we learned earlier Activision during the development of COD4 weren't confident that it was going to sell well compared to a WW2 shooter. Well we all know how well COD4 did.

No shock there. I'll be passing on both unless Treyarch does something with the next CoD that totally blows me away--which I doubt.

What I am surprised by is the lack of James Bond. What is going on there?

And why would they take a break? You may think they're milking, overexposing, saturating etc, but according to the numbers, people are still buying these games in droves. GH and CoD (pretty much) singlehandedly support Activision's existence. And frankly I don't know why it should bother anyone that they're giving the market what it evidently wants. Perhaps at some point they'll hit a wall with Guitar/Band Hero, but that seemingly won't be happening for a while. (lol Van Halen)

My problem with it would be that they're basically selling full priced expansion packs. I don't know if that'll end up being a concern for people. Hasn't been so far with Aerosmith and Metallica I don't think. As an outsider with no real interest in these games any longer, I'm not upset about it personally, but I really don't know why it's not a problem for those who are purchasing these games.

I hate that game with a vengeance.

The last GH i bought was number 3 and I thought I'd check out if I still found these games compelling. Since RB2 instruments aren't available here and the GH5 bundle enticed me with promises of World Tour for free and a spiffy new wireless guitar, that happened. Seemed like a good deal.

Turns out the new wireless guitar was the old wireless guitar, and that GH5 had the most terrible setlist ever, rendering it worthless. Liked World Tour's a bunch more but quickly came to realize that no, I do not find these games particularly compelling any longer. Epic waste of money.

But anyway...
