Activision kills off Guitar Hero and cancels True Crime

Apparently Activision has hit DJ Hero developer with severe layoffs and axed the Guitar Hero series, Eurogamer understands.

Crazy stuff. So what, were going to get TWO Call of Duty games a year now?

This is great news, but Tony Hawk should die with it as well, hasn't been good since last gen!!!

Activision will use them to develop Call of Duty Hero.

We shouldnote that this isnt officaly offical yet until we hear it from Activision, but it looks legit.

I would lol if out of nowhere they cancelled Call of Duty. There would be riots

I think if it comes to the point where activision is literally just leaching on the success of blizzard, that the activision branch of their operation will experience considerable downsizing, maybe even the "activision" part of the company name being dropped.

Look to AOL Time Warner for what could happen.

I was looking forward to true crime. It's such an underrated game in my opinion. I don't really care about guitar hero but I was really looking forward to true crime :(

I despise yearly installments of any game. Especially those that hardly evolve (most sports games). If you cut out say 2 or 3 years in between games, and say compare a game from 09 to 06, you'll see worth while changes, but usually comparing the 09 to the 08, it's hardly worth the purchase.

Well it's not surprising, Guitar Hero wasn't making enough money. I wonder what they'll do next.

My friend just showed me the True Crime E3 demo! I was looking forward to it! They make so much damn money they shouldn't have to cancel games, just end franchises like Guitar Hero.
