I would like to know the pros and cons of the PS3. I am a casual gamer who enjoys games of most genres. Especially shooters, fighting, adventure, and RPGs. I currently own a PSP, Xbox 360, Gamecube, DS, and Wii. I know thats alot but I'm not the kind who buys like 20 games a year. More like 10 or less. Also, besides games, can the PS3 play standard DVDs and HDDVDs including Blu-ray? I'm thinking of getting a PS3 later this year though when the price goes down and I can get games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII. Does the system have any overheating problems what so ever? Is the PS3 worth using more for other media besides games? Can the PS3 support photo and video files from a USB or an SD memory card? Can you play music files that are saved in a PSP memory stick duo to the PS3? Any new bundles announced for this year? If not which one of the current PS3s is the best?

the ps3 can play dvds and blu-rays. not hd-dvd but theres nothing really on hd-dvd that you want, tranformers comes on dvd.you'll have mgs4 within a couple of months ff you may get in the begining of next year. No the ps3 is a tank it does get hot but as for it shutting down or breaking, you have a small chance of this happening. yes once you go blu you never go back. its to have a system that can do everything. i transferred all my music with a usb flash drive and the memory card from my psp. get the 80 gb. i haven't heard of any bundles this year.

Yep, the PS3 supports all of the media features you mentioned... you say you're a casual, who usually don't like the PS3, but if you want all this multimedia functionality the PS3 is a smart choice.

alright, im gonna try and answer this as best as i can. The ps3 boasts a vast library, as far as rpg, try ratchet & clank future: tools of destruction, great game. also as far as shooters, there is call of duty 4, resistance, uncharted(sort of), resistance 2, and unreal tourney 3. The ps3 can play Blu-Ray and DVD, but it cannot play HD-DVD. No, the PS3 has no overheating problems, and as a matter of fact is very quiet, at the loudest, u hear a small hum, even though i've never heard it. Yes the PS3 can play music from a USB, and an SD memory card, but if im not mistaken, u need a 60gb, or an 80gb. i know for sure that the 20gb cant read SD memory cards, i do not know about the 40gb. yes, on the 60gb and 80gb, u can take your memory stick straight from the psp to the ps3, and save all the music/videos/pics. As of right now, there is no official mention of a price drop, however, there are many sources mentioning a 120gb-160gb model, but at this time, they are just rumors. I hope this helped you out a little, and if you get a ps3, congrats, you won't be dissapointed.

Wrong. The ps3 is way more of a casual gaming machine than the 360. Your other posts have proved your fanboyism. You should probably go ahead and quit posting.

TC. Based on YOUR descriptions, a ps3 would be a great multimedia purchase for you.

There is a less than 1% chance of hardware problems. I have had my ps3 on for over 36 straight hours, enclosed and it didnt really get warm. PS3 can play dvd's (upscale them also) and blu ray high def movies. The ps3 has a ton of functionality with the psp. Look up some of the cool stuff you can do with them together. Yes the usb and sd memory cards can be accessed for music and movies. I take my digital camera card and put it in my media readers and show off pictures that way. If your going to get one now, I would suggest the 80 gig model (unless you can find a 60 like I did 3 weeks ago for my 2nd ps3). The 80 gig has bc at like 84% through emulation. The 40 gig offers no bc.

I say go for it. I'm a movie junkie so the PS3 is definitely a plus if you're movies. It's also gotten better since their firmware update to play more video formats. Games coming for the PS3 this year are also tops which includes MGS4, Resistance 2, LBP, etc. If you have an HD tv and a wireless router already set up at your place, you pretty much get a complete package for a household entertainment system.

R&C is NOT an RPG.

This does not effectively place it above the 360 or PC, as equivalents or, indeed, the same game, are available on them as well.

Just pointing out some errors/bias in your post...

Since you already got other systems, you're already set for a very long time. There's not rush for you to get a PS3 right now. Wait till they release their big hitters and when they fix their online community and maybe by then they'll have a better price than now.
