Actually i wasnt really expecting anything from the title..

The first game was pretty meh for my tastes (PCversion that is)

well i never liked games with absurd violence...

but this whole cencorship stuff is getting on my nerves.. seriously why do we need to be limited in our freedom to enjoy media and why should take two endure limitations in their freedom of expression... I hate censorship and this whole UK banned story and USA AO Rating fuss (with Sony and Nintendo totally being **** about it) is getting on my nerves..

Im going to support T2 on this one.. eventhough i fear i wont play the game at all.. whatever im getting the wii version..

It has to be brought down to a M, or the game won't come out...

I did the same thing when they said GTA3 was getting pulled from the shelves, haven't bought a GTA game since. That game sucked.

Yeah but if Sony and Nintendo won't allow the game to be released then THE GAME WON'T COME OUT. Get it through your head. If its coming out it'll be a toned down version that will have an M rating.

I don't see why some of the most violent movies don't get banned. The DVD versions offers interactivity!

I'm getting it because it looks like a good game.

I enjoyed the first one, and I love stealth games, so I don't seea reason not to get this one.

Hopefully it will be released commercially if T2 decides to tone it down a little; as long as the stealth gameplay is intact I don't really care if the absurd violence is still there.

The US didn't ban it - the ESRB rated it AO, which means that Nintendo won't allow the game to be published on their system. Like all videogame consoles since the NES, the Wii contains lockout software the requires a publisher to agree to Nintendo licensing terms to run the game on their system. Since Manhunt 2 is in violation of these licensing terms (by containing AO-content) Nintendo has rejected it for publication - they cannot legally publish this game for the Wii.

Manhunt 2 may still come out on the PS2, I don't know, we haven't heard much from Sony on the issue, but the chances of Rockstar wanting to put out a PS2-exclusive version of Manhunt 2 that will likely be barred from sale in dozens of countries, and will not be allowed to have in-store advertisements, shelf space visible to minors, et cetera are pretty slim.

I am not going to play the game unless it is in its original form that was submitted to the ESRB a few weeks ago. I will never play the downgraded crap just because console companies don't want violent games to be played by kids.

My God. Nintendo and Sony won't allow it to be published. Consoles have had lockout systems in place to prevent games not authorized by the company(Nintendo/Sony) from being played for generations. Nintendo and Sony aren't going to ban it in one region of the planet.

Except if Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft do not allow AO software on their console, then it's not coming out in North America, period. The UK and Ireland have already banned it, Germany and Australia will likely follow suit - the middle east won't allow this *at all* - so where is the game going to be published?` Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo likely won't allow it to be published on their consoles in Japan either, so to be released in its present form, Rockstar would have to make this a PC title, release it only in countries where it hasn't been banned, and would get a tiny fraction of the sales they would have by making it a PS2 / Wii title.

Germany.. probably.. they even banned Godfather and Crackdown...

Austria and Swiss.. I dont think so..

I dont think Rockstar has a subsidiary in Japan.. they normally distribute through Capcom..

Well of course. I as a gamer will not stand for this kind of crap. People need to start looking at video games more like movies... they are not just for kids, they appeal to all audiences and all types of gamers. This toning down of Manhunt 2 is just another step towards the kiddification and casualization of the console industry.

They are doing it so they don't get sued by parents saying "BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT HAD BLOOD AND GORE!!! AND MY KID WANTS TO KILL THINGS NOW". And they know that if they don't, Jack Tomphson would probably call their companies "practice murder machines" and there would be alot of things that would happen that may not be too good for business.

I know many won't agree with me on this, but censorship on violent content is the only kind of censorship which really doesn't bother me. Kind of like how I don't mind that the news doesn't show war scenes, murders, etc in extremely graphic detail.I wouldn't see the point in it. I don't care if ridiculously over-the-top content with gruesome detail like this is not released. We still get plenty of extremely violent games to play, which I do like.

Censorship is not a good thing. Restricting access to people of sufficient maturity to make fully informed decisions (and have static mental processes) is a good thing. What Sony and Nintedo and Microsoft are doing os the corporate version of violating freedom of speech.

This goes far beyond just censoring violence:

"The ultra-violent videogame Manhunt 2 allows you to rape a woman shortly after you beheaded her in the brothel level called Honey Pot. Members of the ESRB were shocked when Daniel Lamb used his male reproduction organ and simulated a penetration in the bloody hole. Other gruesome parts include microwaving a living cat to death and being a witness of necrophilia in a cemetery in one of the later stage of the game."

Rape, animal cruelty and necrophilia are not as bad as murder, and gamers revel in it without a complaint.

Maybe animal crulity could get off as easier then murder and that otehr stuff, but really, I believe necrophillia nad rape are around as bad. Rather traumatizing and directly psycologically ruining of lives in the way of rape, and necrophillia is just plain sick in so many ways it's not even funny.

Reaosn murder gets off so easly in media is because it's very common and much more swift and subtle. Needs much less explanation to say "That man hanted that other man" than to say "that man had strong sexual urges to assault that woman without her liking in harmful ways"

The reason people feel this way is because killing has been glorified in movies and games for so long, it no longer has any effect. If they're "around as bad" then why should they be banned when killing is not? It's just some gore and twisted imagery. Tons of horror movies and novels bring forth the same. Finally, we've got a crazy horror game and we can't even play it in it's uncut form. That's incredibly lame. The game was designed for a specific audience, there's no reason adults can't play it. It is a GAME in the end. Most people playing this game will have seen this before a million times. It will effect them in no way different than GTA effects others.
