that the graphics are not what the hype says it is. I can give you a few games that easily beat it already in that department. Need for speed shift comes to mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nbaeBgBR5c&feature=related or project gotham racing 4. GT5 may have much more content, but need for speed shift is an amazing game that destroys gt5 imo.

Please don't be offended by the fact I do not believe you played it at all but I don't believe you played it at all. Unless you have solid proof it's pretty much a waste of time making this thread.

A PC version of a game beats a console exclusive? Now I'm shocked. Is there any racing game on a console that looks even close to GT5?

I'm only mentioning your reference to Shift because the other made me laugh.

Well when I played the game at PAX, I thought the graphics were amazing, among the best I'd ever seen! They are way better than NFS:Shift and Dirt 2!!!

Why don't you post a screen from DiRT 2 on the PS3! It doesn't look anything like what you just posted.

Those cars look like hot wheels, they lack detail and the environment is nothing special. Just wait for the gamespot review cus all of you will going to get owned real bad. (I'm talking specifically about the graphics)

Now look for a PC shot at max settings...

thank you, some people on here dont understand that the look of the materials that cars are made of in games has a lot to do with its lighting engine, which is why lots of car games end up with highly detailed cars even with lots of polygons and high res textures that unfortunately still look like toys

when it comes to the lighting effect on car surfaces in order to create believable surface metals or whatever else like carbon fibre, no one matches gran turismo

and codemasters cant even get their game running at 60fps on consoles when theyre not even running more than 8 cars, hows that impressive

I don't believe the TC but he is right that GT5 isn't as impressive as a lot of PS3 only owners seem convinced it is graphically, cars looks truly awesome but everything else is lackluster which is exactly the same as every GT game ever released so why so shocked?

Nah Dirt 2 looks much better.

Unless someone has played it on the PC with the mods then they have no credibility in the argument.

And it must be at the least Directx9 max settings (4xMSAA or higher) with at least 1680x1050 res or higher.

Directx 11 even looks better especially with water effects.

Dirt2 is the best looking racer I've seen, GT5 looks better than Forza 3 but will it play as well? The jury is still out on that. I'm not impressed with 1000+ cars of which only 200 have the full damage model, even that looks a bit screwed up and unrealistic. The night driving and full weather effects are awesome though.

One small shot of the engine does not prove much.

In one of my screenshots you can see inside the truck if you look through the slits.

The lights are not painted on either.

You don't see the engines on Dirt2 because they are covered.

There is some good smaller detail in the back of the trucks too.

But also the backgrounds are important too.

Dirt 2 is still better looking overall.

And I still think the vehicles look better.

Wll the good thing about PC is that we can modify the bloom to look however we want.

But I prefer it. If you've been outside with a new car that has just been waxed and the sun is shinning bright you will see something close to that.

Heck while driving on the road sometimes the sun will reflect on the car in front of me and almost blind me.

And GT5 is not even close to realistic with those 2D trees and uglier backgrounds.

But like I said, the only people who have credibility are those who experienced the PC version at the settings I mentioned.

i remember calling it ages ago that PD would just rip the cockpit weather effects from PGR4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb_J0mNmBhE&feature=related

the sad thing is people will go crazy is if it hasnt been done before and again ignore the fact only 200 cars will actually let you see it.
