Just how friggin' annoying rumble can be. Rumble can be a fine little trick, or it can be the sum of all evils. Developers have gotten so lazy with rumble it's like they don't care to make it work, they just want to give you the same, constant numbing feedback everytime something happens on screen, even firing your basic machine gun.

In Lost Planet, rumble is the sum of all evils. I was fighting a boss in Lost Planet for around 6-10 minutes, it killed me so I had to restart. But anyway I was in a mech with dual machine guns. Holding down the triggers non-stop and all the while rumble was sending shockwaves through my tendons. After that boss, I just couldn't play anymore. So this next time I started up Lost Planet I turned off rumble, and I haven't looked back since. My once numb tendons have thanked me, and I enjoy the game a lot more. It's no longer uncomfortable to play the game. And it doesn't feel like I'm missing a damn thing.

This was just one example, but there are many many more. Rumble can be nice, and it can be completely stupid. I'd have to say these days it's more stupid than nice. Back when rumble first came out developers really took the time to make it work. Nowadays it just seems to be, let's make sure players know they're firing their basic weapon.

I personally like the rumble. I think it sort of puts you into the game like you are in the game yourself.

You know, you have a very good point there. It's always the same feedback nowadays.

Still when your digging you swords into a enemy in God of War...  The Rumble is real satisfying.

Don't ever shoot a semi-automatic rifle.  Your arms would probably fall off.

Devs are getting lazy with creativity in using rumble. MLB 2K7 and Assassin's Creed utilize it perfectly. I hope there will be some sort of rumble for PS3 by the time AC comes out, if not I'll have to get it on 360.

Actually shooting a rifle most of the force should be absorbed by your upper shoulder, not your wrists.

So you are saying that the force via a semi-automatic weapon is less stressing on your hands then that of rumble in a video game controller?  Haha.  Sure, whatever you say buddy.

You have to take into account you won't be shooting a gun, non-stop for an hour or two like you would be in a video game.

I turned it off for two reasons.
I generally dislike it
And it saves battery life.

It will create a vibration in your arm nonetheless.

They are putting rumble back in apparently. So he'll have to turn it off on both. Not much of a chore turning it off though.
