After playing my GF's Wii...

I conclude that this console is nothing more than a fad, a gimmick, and something with no lasting hardcore appeal whatsoever.

Casuals do not care about zelda or super smash bros or samus, they care about wii sports and the controller. The wii has awesome potential for attracting casuals to gamming, but almost none for hardcore gamers. With the low system power, it seems the Wii was more of an expiriment. The WII is not selling much software bc most of it is bad, and no one plays anything besides WII sports. Even to casuals wii sports will get old. 

However the wii has been very succesful. The only thing that stops me from buying one is the lack of horsepower and the lack of games. All anyone plays on the wii is wii sports and that is fun, but it just gets old for me.

The wii controller has so much potential for games, but the system just doesnt. It is not powerful enough. I can only imagine how much fun it would be to play CSS or halo3 with that controller. I wish MS would just copy off NINtendo and make one. IMO the wii has no lasting appeal. If your the kind of person that enjoys playing wii sports for the next few years with only a few good games in between, buy one.

I would not really want to play any game with the Wii mote, it just limits what you can do a lot, like you have to turn to the side of the screen to turn in shooters, never seen a worst control scheme

My younger brother keeps asking me or my dad to buy him one. but i choose not too. my cousin brought his wii one day, and even my dad who stopped playing games at the end of N64(thanks nintendo you ruined it for him), just laughs and said, "you paid $10 for a VC game you have at home what is nintendo too tired to make another mario game"

the story isnt really relevant but at the time it was funny. He was just screaming and yelling.

judging from the sales drop of the ps3. i'd say that's a bigger fad.

the wii has a 4 attach ratio. clearly ppl are playing more than wii sports.

No kinding the controller is the best thing about the system. took you now to figure that one out? new games are going to keep coming out for it because of it's sales. it's selling better than the ps2.

How is the wii revolutionary? Old gameplay and graphics and 1 online game. Yeh mayb it has a motion censored controller but these controls have failed to impress game after game. Time-crisis even featured a motion censored instrument and tht was 10 years ago! come on, dnt kid ur self, its a fad.

The ony real fad when you think about it is the PS3. Look how insane it was selling out at first, how high it was selling on eBay, and how many people were getting beating and robbed for it.

Is that still happening now? Is there a huge demand for it now? People stopped buying those things to sell them on ebay after a couple of weeks. If anything the PS3 is the fad. Factually speaking anyway :P

I dont think you could compare ds with a consol i have to say that NIN really showd what kind of game people would buy handhelds for. DS games its easy to pick up and play. But i think people really wants some games with depht and not just

The Wii is selling extremely well. Do you think game developers would rather make games for a system that could make them sell millions of copies or make a game for a more powerful system but will sell less copies?

Why do you think every game developer want to make games for the DS? Is it because the system is good and powerful or is it because there are more than 40 millions unit sold?

The Wii is not a fad, it is selling faster than PS3s and 360s. The number of units sold will attract game developers and we will soon have many many many awesome games for the Wii.

No, if the Xbox 360 is expensive and fewer people are buying them, yet software sales for the 360 are higher than the Wii's, then the 360 should have a MUCH higher attach rate than the Wii, but that's not the case.

The Wii is selling 6.1 games per console in the United States alone. The Xbox 360 is only selling about 5.3 games per console sold. That means that, on average, with 200,000 Xbox 360s sold per month, an attach ratio of 5.3 translates to about 1 million Xbox 360 games are sold every month. But with the Wii selling on average 300,000 per month, an attach ratio of 6.1 that translates to almost 2 million Wii games sold per month.

So no, 360 software sales aren't trumping the Wii's. Lifetime to date, yes, of course it is, but that's because the 360's been out for 18 months now while the Wii's been out for only six. In monthly sales, the Wii's software sales are overall beating the 360's, at least in the US, both in absolute monthly volume and in games per console sold.

None of that sounds hands on... I mean you don't talk about the games just the same old that everyone complains about and stuff that you wouldn't have to actually try to complain about. the wii doesnt appeal to a hardcore fps player like myself no. i have no reason to buy the wii when i am not coo coo for ssbm and dont a hardon for zelda everything else the wii does some other system does better. except for wii sports of course.
