and playing the Forza 2 demo, I can conclude that DIRT is not only better in gameplay, but it also looks 20x better than Forza 2. Yeah anyway, the DIRT demo is available now on marketplace, just incase you didn't know.

Good looking out. Is this game exclusive to the 360 or is it also coming to the PS3?

Multiplat, I believe. Either way, glad to hear it plays well, I love rally games. RalleySport Challenge 2 was my favorite racer on the original XBOX. Loved it.

How can the gameplay be compared? One is a full sim racer on tracks the other is a semi-sim rally game...

I have a release date of 9/12/2007 for the PS3.  So it looks like they made it for 360 and PS3 gets another port.

Dirt is arcade and Forza is is a simulation. They are two different style games and judging games based on demos is not smart. Kids generally prefer arcade style games because simulations are difficult especially when you don't kno whow to drive. Some people prefer realistic over arcade style though.

Wait wait wait... I was under the impression that it was more a sim like Forza, only a rally sim... Someone please clear this up for me.

I have a ton more fun racing and driving like I would in real life. Adds to the depth of the game. I prefer sim games like GTR and GT over arcade racers like NFS and Burnout. I also enjoy surreal racers like F-Zero and Mario Kart.

Comparing sim racers to arcade racers is like comparing Halo to Metroid or a zebra to a cucumber.

Not a really good comparison as Forza 2 does not strive to be the game that DIRT is.  A better comparison would be Motorstorm and DIRT is better.

Like I said in another thread, I was kinda dissapointed with the framerate.  I know that the full version can improve it much like how Saint's Row improved in the final version.  The in-car cams look very nice and the grass is definately better then Forza2.

But is it a sim, or arcade style racer? I really want it to be a good sim, especially with the damage modelling they're working on.

I've played the DIRT demo, and deleted it. The cars handle like crap, Rallisport challenge 2 smokes this game in all areas.

Add in the fact that DIRT has a broken online game where you can't even race head to head and it's nothing more than a broken tech demo for the new neo engine

total crap

I believe it is a "semi-sim" from the videos I have seen. The physics don't look top-notch but it definitly is not an arcade racer.

I could be wrong.

Yea it's a mix I think, but I would say it's more sim then arcade.  One reason I consider games like burnout arcadey is because you can take turns at high speeds with ease, but in dirt you'll find yourself flying off course a lot if you try to play that way.

Yea, it's pretty decent... I agree that it'll be better than Forza 2. Still not sure I'll be picking it up yet though as the actual gameplay still isn't as top notch as Motorstorm... but then again, it plays totally different. We'll see. I do love the dash views.

I think many were expecting the game to be easy and their skills in games like NFS and Burnout were transferable to Forza.

I'll take Forza's graphics over that crap NFS, Burnout, etc.. any day.  The only arcade racer I like is Midnight Club.

Dirt not even semi sim its full on arcade racer with really good enviroments the cars control like the cars in Need for speed seriosly Forza 2 has better car models car physics damage ect. Only thing Forza 2 lacking is enviroment detail other than that it pwns all other racers.

Dirt to me feels like if EA made a Need for speed rally game this game really only comparable to motor storm which in that game the controls are better and motorstorm looks better too.

My point is, at least Forza 2 won't be the ONLY big racer to get and it won't represent the 360's graphical capabilities. At least now 360 owners can now have this game which looks waaaay better instead of an unrealistic look/cartoony game.

Maybe, however I know how to drive and very good. Matter of fact I just download the forza demo and played it for the first time. reminds me of GT. The second time racing the R2 cars I got first place. So it is not very hard. And this was my first time ever playing the game. I like racing games that use the left and right triggers because they are analogue.

I still prefer burnout. I like fast arcade style racing games I think they are more challanging to be honest. And they are loads of fun in the arcade with a steering wheel like Rush Hour.

I have not tried the steering wheel for 360. However I imagine it will not work that well with dirt, but I am sure it works fine with forza.

It's just a matter of taste. I like Forza 2 demo way more because i like racing on asphalt alot more then the rally racing. Â
