During Sony's E3 press conference, Remedy its newest project, Control. The reveal had plenty of mind-bending moments, some gunplay, and a futuristic vibe that made it pop.

According to a press release, Control puts players in the shoes of Jesse Faden, an operative working for "secretive agency in New York." Faden will face off against an "otherworldly threat" that requires her to utilize her supernatural powers in a series of mysterious locations.

Looks really similar to Quantum Break.

Will be nice to see if they can achieve their vision this time without MS trying to shoehorn a TV show into it.

I've always thought Remedy was a great developer. Max Payne and Alan Wake prove that. Keeping an eye on this one.

Can Remedy as a business even sustain another flop like QB if this also flops?

'their vision' is to repackage a game they already made, hype the hell out of it, charge premium price and throw the stock holders a massive party

Hated Quantum Break. This looks cool. Hopefully, it's more a game this time and not a bad TV show.

I wish she had a prettier face.

True, when your exclusives are next to zero and trailing gen 8 console leader SONY, it's tough to compete.

I do not have high hopes for this one. Looks way too much like Quantum Break. Lems should be super excited seeing as they ate up the game when it was exclusive.

Quantum Break Control looks like Remedy has writers block.

As long as this doesn't need a TV show to tell the story it's fine. That annoyed me most about quantum break. Broke up the game completely.

I never tried Quantum Break. The action looked rather kinetic and fun. This looks equally fun - and a natural evolution over those ideas.

I say bring it on.

It's a good game and worth playing it's really cheap at this point as well. I recommend at least one play through not much replay value though.

Quantum Break can be really fun except these mofos wanted to tell a story so freaking hard. The game was more of a "Push forward to the next cutscene and maybe if we are in the mood we would give you some gun play. Maybe".

The time powers are really fun to use and made for some unique kind of play. I think Remedy could really flesh them out even more with this new game and like everyone agrees, no TV crap needed here. We'll see.

The TV episodes was the least of the game's problem. TV episodes you can skip, push forward for 5-10 minutes you cannot.

@SecretPolice: It's a good opportunity to look at what didn't work with the Quantum Break and improve them.

@Pedro: I think the combat looks fun but I'm a bit worried there's too much exposition for me.

Yeah, I know you can skip them but just saying spending time on that was a waste and better served spending that time on the game itself. Also, I liked the time powers and would like some more. Did you not like that part of the game yourself?

I've had a theory that part of what makes a video game a classic is if it's mechanically different from other games at a fundamental level.

The mechanics of this game look like a generic third person shooter with Inception/Dr Strange changing environments. Your brain will go on auto-pilot during combat because the controls and gunplay-flow are what you've experienced before, and the only thing engaging your brain is the narrative.

I have a feeling it can only ever be really good, but not great.

No need to worry because it is too much exposition.

I enjoyed the moments where I can play and where it was more of a game than push forward while being bombarded with story. The gunplay was damn good. Its a shame they wanted to push the story more than the actual game.

@FrozenLiquid: I dunno. I'm hoping the powers will deliver some creative solutions to problems outside shooting the enemies. Using the environment as a projectile and potential for vertical gameplay could be quite interesting. I'm not sure if this will necessarily deliver a game that is deep or visceral outside of simply having options that are aesthetically different but not systemically different, but at the very least, it seems you can get quite creative with the powers. In some aspects, it puts it in the same shoes as something like inFamous or Bioshock, and I it totally depends on the level of interactive objects in a scene.

It looks like quantum break spin off with female character. I will pass. with same shitty shooting mechanics and recycle gameplay of QB.

I was hoping something like Max payne or alan wake.

now Im glad to say they dont own Max Payne IP anymore. Rockstar can make better Max Payne 4.

More similarities:

It seems like they are using the same actress they used in Quantum Break (Courtney Hope). She played "Beth Wilder" there, but is main character Jesse Faden here.

I sortof want this to be actually great. If but for no reason than it would be good to see a sequel do well from lessons learned. I think, generally speaking, this industry is way too quick to send IP to pasture rather than develop it and grow it into something.

Ghosts is correct,

Well, it's actually the girl from Quantum Break: Beth Wilder, from the looks of it.

So it's a sequel/spin off kinda thing.

Nah, she doesn't look like Beth Wilder and besides Remedy can't do that because Quantum Break is owned by MS.

I think maybe Quantum Break's biggest problem was this same idea that Halo 5 had trying to bridge games with supplemental media, trying to monetize TV shows with games instead of letting them have self contained stories. Wasn't as big a problem in Halo 5, but for Quantum Break I imagine having to pre-produce episodes probably ate into its budget as well as cement the games design early not allowing for flexibility in design to make a better game as development progressed. Anyhow, control trailer looked good, looking forward to that.

yah, if Sony had full control over Remedy by funding their projects like sony does for its 1st party's, it wouldn't flop. Then we have MS and their ways of supporting their 1st and 2nd party studios, that it's no wonder why Remedy grabbed the life boat and jumped ship while Phill goes down with the ship.

I'm talking about that woman in the trailer, you get to see her face and its the exact same woman from QB: Beth Wilder.

Yeah man, I just love all of Remedy's games. Even if Alan Wake and QB had their flaws, they were still the best third person games you could play in most aspects.

This looks like a day one buy for me too, and it's even better Microsoft is not attached :P
