After that GTA IV trailer, I only have one thing to say...

Rockstar has the tightest team in the world. All other free roaming competition between San andreas and IV (saints row, godfather, scarface...) will be crushed

I say this because, although the game's graphics wont be as high as, say, gears, it looks like a stellar experience. the scenes shown were perfect, the music was perfect, and that walking sequence was beyond perfect.

GTA IV will take the cinematic storytelling and action to a new level with this game, and rockstar should be very proud.

I don't care about its cinematic quality, or its story, or its walking scene, or its pretty graphics. I, like 90% of the people who will buy this game, only care about blowing crap up and raising hell all over the damn place.

Because this game helps relief some stress by killing ppl in the game and blowing stuff up imagine if we didnt have theGta series how many serial killers we would have lurking on the streets killing ppl and blowing up ur car yea alot..

Well, for starters, it's a good free-roamer. you have a lot of freedoms in the game (even if it's just staying outside last gen), and the world is a good mixture of comedy and social commentary. The story tends to be fun, and the mission structure is not frustrating. The controls are acceptable, and you do get to blow stuff up, and very nicely. Plus, all the side missions and challenges make the game just feel tight.

I love the series, and there IS a reason for the universal acclaim.

There is better free roaming in Morrowind and Oblivion IMO. Story is lame. Same old criminal that wants to get on top. (allthough this time it seems different). It just doesn;t drive the game forward for me. After 2 hours of speeding through traffic and blowing up stuff I've seen all of it, and never start up the game again. Thank god for warez.

As for blowing off steam. Nothing beats a round of good old doom2. I mean come on! Blowing up deamons in stead of hoes.

The story is not "good" as in "would make a good movie", I said it was fun. Big and important difference.

I think your main problem with the game is that you're in search of stuff that's too structured. Half (if not more) of the fun in GTA is just coming up with bizarre things to do. The free roaming in both oblivion and morrorwind, while more "free", it's a lot more structured in that sense.

Rockstar has managed to create some great virtual cities. They seem to know exactly what makes a city tick and are able to jam it into their games. The stories are always interesting and you never feel like they are forcing the atmosphere, it just FEELS right. They own the free roaming genre and this new trailer confirms that.

i hope they show actual gameplay at e3.

im tired of the trailers. i wanna see a video of someone playing the game in real time.

The main character changes, and the reason he does what he does changes. This one seems to be for a better reason, and as they said he will not get rich like in all the other games. GTA games have a good story, and create an amazing atmosphere in game. That is why i enjoy them.

You are not alone. I was dumb enough to rent San Andreas. Then I was incredibly dumb enough to buy Saints Row. Duh.

I say dumb...for me...I know better. I just don't like those type of games. Therefore I was dumb in wasting my money.

I get others think it is fantastic. Its personal preference. Some people like these games. Some people like RPGs. Some people like JRPGs....etc.

Personally, I think it blows chunks. I am bored out of mind within a couple of hours exactly as you describe. But, hey I acknowledge its a great game/series/genre and millions love it. It just isn't for me.

But yah, you are not alone.

What makes GTA unique is that it does everything well--not just the random "blow crap up" parts

How can anyone possible hate GTA series that much is beyond me. We should all appreciate How Rockstar jam these games with so much content, and great sprawling movie like stories. Give props where props are due.

As for me, I was never fond of the GTA games as much as other people have been. Story-wise, it was interesting, but.... to me the gameplay was just....bleh.... don't like it much.

Oh, and how Vice City and San Andreas got 9.6 is way beyond me. That was reserved for GTA III.
