AGAIN, Xbox versions have better colors.

I dont know what it is but time and time again and again and again the xbox versions of multiplats have more vibrant and deeper colors than ps4. Call it crushed blacks or whatever you want fact is xbox multiplats LOOK better. I dont notice 1080p vs 900p from 10 feet away on my 55 inch tv sitting on my couch but I do notice deeper blacks, bluer blues, redder reds, and so on. Why the hell do all sony multiplats this gen AND last look so damn pale? I swear they all look the same. And im no fanboy at all Ive crapped on all consoles and pc for their respected faults. Ps4 just looks like theyve stripped a layer of color off the top. And ive tried adjusting my tv and ps4 like others have said and it does not look as vibrant as the xbox version. What the hell?

Visually they do look better in terms of color by default, there's more vibrance and constrast, games on the PlayStation 4 are generally a bit washed out looking.

I've realised this at times. Always wondered if I was the only one noticing it. Good to see that there isn't something wrong with my eyes.

I have noticed that before. I never really understood why, and it didn't bug me that much, so I just kinda ignored it.

Crushed anything does not = better, it just inaccurate.

I mean its the second gen in a row. Its not all games, but I can comfortably say MOST games. I have a nice sony tv with all the bells and whistles, when I adjust the saturation and stuff it still doesnt look as good as the default xbox versions. What I generally do is I redbox both versions of multiplats and if the game is good I go with the better looking version, surprisingly with all the 900p controversey I have accumulated a bigger multiplat collection on my xbox than ps4.

I realized this on the PS3, I inquired on it years later and heard the problem might partially be in the display settings, like something like the RGB setting is default set to LIMITED and not FULL, might be worth checking if that's the case on the PS4 too

It might be a post image processing issue too, though PS4 might use higher resolution textures I think the developers and/or the machines rely on post-processing effects that soften and diffuse aspects of the image

It paid off in GTAV, look at the snow on the roof for example, the deeper blacks and level of contrast brings a higher level of detail to the scene. On the PS4 it's very washed out and you lose the fine details, ridges and cracks in the snow. The other pictures are pretty self explanatory the level of vibrance and contrast produces a much richer and more alive looking color image.

@nyadc: wow what a great example. And there I went and bought gta 5 on ps4 lol. Only because my friends mostly have a ps4. Those screens literally look night and day different lol. I mean, it looks like an early evening cloud came and entered the ps4 world.

Do you know what Tiled Resources are ? That's not accurate at all. But devs use them even on your beloved PS4. Visuals in gaming will always be inaccurate because devs have to resort to tricks that'll make the hardware run better. Just because Xbox One uses a trick now...it's not better.

Agreed. AC Black Flag's colors are much more vivid in the X1 version.

PS4's colors generally look washed out, I agree. what I can suggest you to do is increase the contrast/brightness of your TV and see if the game looks better.

In a recent Fallout 4 comparison, I thought the PS4 version looked weirdly darker and a bit worse than the other two. I could be wrong, idk.

If you like oversaturated colors, set the rgb on the ps4 to full and it's colors will be just like the x1, innaccurate, but brighter looking nonetheless.

There's a slight difference in color, but its almost negligible. And honestly, if some of you were to be shown a game running on any of them without knowing, you'd be hard pressed to tell which version it was.

I have no idea why but I cannot get any Sony console to have decent colors, no matter how much I adjust it. My friends always said it wasn't true but I feel the same as you, Xbox has slighter better colors off the bat with no adjustments. MS just has it better calibrated or something.

Lol, why can he decide that it's inaccurate? I'm not sure if you have the same experience, because I can't look through your eyes, but my world is much more vibrant than ANY console seems to show me. So if the Xbox One does a better job at it, the console is actually much closer to realism than the PS4.
