ive been obsessing over this topic for months now. I dont see the sense in dropping 1grand on a gaming pc that will be outdated in a few months anyway. Im talking about the latest and greatest games not the lite graphic games. The Crysis's of the world im talking about. Console is better less hassle. I keep telling my self this but when i boot up my ps3 i just keep thinking of how much better the experience would be on my pc even though it is 5 years old but i can still play most games i enjoy pretty comfortably. Half-life series counter strike etc. what do u all think or do u even think about this?

PC is AMAZING!

BUT...it doesn't get all the different console games we see, especially Platformers, Fighting, etc. It manage to nab SF4 though.

If's a very particular type of machine.

As far as POWER, there is no where else to go.

Gaming PC's don't require thousands of dollars though, and even still the money gives you BETTER performance, and UNLIMITED multimedia functions.

But regardless of that I generally think that every system has games worth playing. Some less than others, but if that's the case I just wait for a price drop.

As of now though, I own a gaming PC because I don't really want to spend money on Live, or a wireless adaptor, and I don't own a PS3 because I don't really like any games for it.

well for one you don't need to drop a thousand bucks on a gaming machine only to have it outdated a few months later... more like spend 500-600 (even less in some peoples cases!) smartly and it will last you years

I think the PC is overrated on this forum. So much so that there is non PC gamers like yourself believing that PC gaming is so much better without even being a PC gamer.. Sure the PC is technically better. My PC is a lot more powerful than the consoles, there's more customization, more content, mods, more games. But as far as my gaming experience, I have a better one on the consoles.

I think your logic sucks thats what I think. PC's don't cost over 1000$ and don't get outdated for a whole consoles life span and more. And since you want to play the greatest graphical games then why are you settling for consoles? I don't get it.

I prefer gaming on a console. That's all. A PC is useful in terms of being able to do well...everything but it doesn't suit my style. Course I still PC game on occasion, but I always find myself playing on a console every day.

Yes if you don't know the basics of how to use a PC. And if you are a afraid of building your PC then get to learning or pay someone else to do it.

Basics!? You need to have a very good knowledge of computers before PC gaming is anywhere near as easy and immediately enjoyable as consle gaming.

You need to at least drop $500 to build a decent gaming pc.... and console has as much if not longer lifespan. Unless you pirate games pc gaming is not significantly cheaper.

Why?

I have been PC gaming since I was 9, and when i was 15 I built my first PC after spending 10 minutes to read a tutorial online.

It wasn't difficult because Windows isn't hard to use, Steam isn't hard to use, and installing games is incredibly simple.

What is so complicated about putting in the disk, installing the game, setting graphics options, and playing the game? And if you want to play mods have a simple click and drag to a specific folder. OOooooooo so hard right?

Ease of use for consoles and just more games period.

PC gaming machines aren't as bad as people think.

x800pro PCI-E
DDR 1 gig
Pentium 4 3 ghz w/Hyper Threading

5 year-old machine. Plays anything of the Orange Box maxed out with a wicked framerate.

I have a computer to go on the internet, watch movies, type documents, and use editing software. I have consoles for games. I prefer controllers on consoles, I prefer the games, I prefer everything. PC just isn't for me, nor my wallet.

No desire to use M/KB. No desire to plug in a controller and get royaly owned. No desire to have to search for the right parts for it, and put them in and stuff. No desire to figure out how to hook it up to my TV. No desire to play sitting at a desk with m/kb. Anything else is a disadvantage. No desire to worry about if my PC can handle that game. No desire to make sure the Mods I'm DLing are virus free. No desire to get viruss and have a wrecked PC. No desire to not be able to play with my real friends, not some "friends" I meat on steam. No desire to not be able to go to gamestop and walk around and browse through tons of used games. And no desire to be called a computer geel.

Well then I must say you are a pretty lazy and somewhat paranoid person. How do you get a virus from downloading mods?

From what I know only UT3 supports that. Almost every PC game has support for gamepads. And even if a game doesen't you can download a third party program to make it work.

You DL a mod from a person who puts a virus in it? Come on, even I knew that. I'm not lazy, I just don't feel like putting effort into, or having to worry about video gaming, my escape from stress and worrying. Paranoid? Nahh, come on. I just don't want to take risks with a video game machine.

You just need an adapter and you can pretty much play any game with mouse and keyboard on the ps3. I'm not saying Ps3>PC I'm just saying that you can still use keyboard and mouse to play fps (kinda cheap tho and I expect there to be a bigger delay).

Ive just had bad pc gaming experiences. Incompatible hardware, dll crashes, freezing, slowdown. Just not worth it IMO. Then again I owned some cheap Frankenstein computer made up of the best the 90's had to offer combined the worst of the early Millenium to form this abomination that was incapable of just about anything. I'm happy now with a Mac for computer stuff, and a 360 for gaming stuff. Keep the two seperate and there aren't any distractions when you need to work =].

Here's my opinion:

Consoles > PC.

Nostalgia - Playing local coop with my family in games like TMNT, ZAMN, Mario Kart, F-Zero, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct and Turok; Having miniature tournaments when there wasn't enough controllers to go around; "Loser gives it up." I know some of you long time console gamers have recited these infamous words.

It's the local multi-play; Its the fact that I can split-screen with no extra dongles or boxes to lug around and no network to establish; Its the fact that the entire design philospohy for games on consoles has revolved around inclusion -- Its the fact that the evolution of the design of consoles themeselves that has focused on the idea that I can invite a buddy/family over and we can multi-play with ease -- Its the fact that the consoles have stuck with this tradition.

And lastly, Its the fact that PC developers have still failed in the area of local multiplayer whilst the consoles have adapted the PCs only way of "multiplayer" which is through networking. Two, 360 consoles is all you need for eight people; you'll need eight towers for eight PC gamers and eight gurneys to lift said towers.

console > pc

85% of pc gamers are just graphic whores, their only purpose in life is to bombard people with screens of crysis to show that pc greater than conoles. guess what graphics dont make a game. i enjoy a game like metroid prime better than crysis. the other 15% are the "elitist" who believe that they have so much skills at games. guess what no one cares about that, the majority of us just play for fun to relax for an hour or 2.

I got my new rig in Feb. bought and beat Crysis. Then went back to my ps3. Guys that are all over pc now have got to love rpg's or rts's. The last great games for the pc was crysis, prior to that was Doom3 and HL2. Other than that its rpgs' and rts's. I'm sorry but if your still holding on to pc gaming your really letting your gaming self down big time.

P.S. LOL at pc elitist comment above. I have a friend like that talking about how percise a mouse is all the time lol. I just tell him that yall pc throw backs call us noobs lol, but yet he's got to have something that can pin point someone in the eyeball with inorder to play lol. Grow up pc guys and stop hiding behind the mouse and keyboard and show some real skills. :) Last I checked I couldn't pinpoint shots with my rifle in real life from 30 yards or more in .222255 of a sec lol.

Nope first pc game I ever played was Apache simulator and Decent. Well atleast thats what I would call my first real games on pc.

P.S. Forgot to list BF2 aswell in my prior post. But since having my ps3 and going back to bf2, bf2 just seems lousy now. But it was great when it first came out, I did play it for about 2 years. But there wasn't nothing else to play either on pc at the time unless Quake4 MP.

This war will never end...

PC wins because it has the msot AAA/AA titles, better graphics and performance (usually), dedicated community (mods), free online, cheaper games, better DD service and better control system

HOWEVER

Consoles win because they are cheaper (if you rarely buy games or usually rent then consoles are cheaper) and hassle free

In the end it all comes down to preference.

Tell me sir. Did you just come out of 2007?

Hoory for opinions? I have every BF title (including expansions, BF2MW, Bad Company) - and yet still play Battlefield 2, and find it to be still great next to todays online shooters (even open ended titles such as ArmA 2). Go figure.

Hmm, I have all BF games aswell (BF 1942, BF Vietnam BF2), oh minus BF:bc cause it just sucks. Who ever thought a bf game without prone position would be good needs to be slapped lol. But na man bf2 just feels cheap and and well cheesy now. The bunny hopping, the dolphin diving and everything else just feels bad now after playing Socom, KZ2. And the game is definitly old now for sure and it pained my eyes when I played it again about a month 1/2 ago again.

As a 360 owner, PC >>>> Consoles.

PC is AMAZING!

BUT...it doesn't get all the different console games we see, especially Platformers, Fighting, etc. It manage to nab SF4 though.

If's a very particular type of machine.

As far as POWER, there is no where else to go.

SolidTy

used to be true but now most games are on pc and consoles. consoles look cheaper upfront but pc gaming is cheaper in the long run due to cheaper games and you don't have to upgrade during the console gen just to play the games at better settings than the consoles do. Upgrades are for those who need the best tech and want everything running 60fps+ in 1080p or better with max settings.

Gamerz1569: "More AA and AAA games"

Arbitrary

Gamerz1569: "Dedicated community"

Nope. Go look at all the Halo machinima - They didn't even have professional tools and they still pulled some of the best machinima out there.

Also go look at the sheer number of Mortal Kombat/SF vs. (Things) videos. They were made on PC but these were originally console games.

cheaper games

Gamerz1569

But more expensive hardware, offset the cost.

better DD service and

Gamerz1569

No. The consoles only have one central marketplace that you go too to get all of its content, you don't have to have multiple services like Steam and GFWL to get everything the PC has to offer - I'm not knocking PCs for having this, I'm simply refuting it as a reason to knock the consoles.

better control system

Gamerz1569

Arbitrary

:)

Damn glitchspot. Gamespot = phailboat.

You need to at least drop $500 to build a decent gaming pc.... and console has as much if not longer lifespan. Unless you pirate games pc gaming is not significantly cheaper.

2006= ps3 release 2006 = geforce 8 series release. the 8800gts can still run pretty much every game on high or close to high while ps3 now struggle with medium settings. the 8800 will continue to run games much better than the ps3 and will not have to be upgraded before the next gen consoles. when you are saving $10-$50 per game the cost advantage of console quickly disappears. street fighter 4 pc $80nzd consoles $140. nfs shift pc $80 consoles $120. dirt 2 pc $90 consoles $130. doesn't take many games to pay for the nice graphics card or new cpu or ram.

What proof is there for the red part of your statement?

Also, the 8800GTX launched at $650 and the 8800GTS 640 was $499-550; 8800GTS 320 was $300 when new so factor in all the other components and you end up with a higher MSRP, if only slightly if your using the 8800GTS 320 and that card isn't playing games at high settings today.
