Haven't even touched my 360 in a long while, been playing lots of Demon's Souls on my PS3(also use it as a dvd/blu ray player quite a bit) though and I love it.
Pretty good gen so far. I have so many games to play it's unbelievable. Lots of games are really getting the dumbed down status though... kinda sucks.

my thoughts on this gen : I like it, there are alot of good games coming out, and I hope it will only continue to improve.
then again, its not my favourite gen (that would go to the PS1/N64/SAT era) and I have my complaints, like games becoming overall shorter (considering the storage space we have today, most games are too short.), and DLC (some DLC I think is good, but some DLC they want us to pay extra for , should really be in the game anyways)

(Forza 2 will probably be replaced by Forza 3 once I get to play it(My XBOX 360 Died for the third time recently))
(I know there is more than 5 games on my list, but I could not pick just 5, sorry)
(I haven't played Uncharted 2 yet)
Favorite system this generation: XBOX 360
Thoughts: IMO anyone who thinks this gen hasn't been great, is probably stuck in the past. The online implementation this gen has been phenomenal. Especially for the 360. My 360 has died three times now, so I guess that would be my biggest complaint. I had a PS2 last gen so I'm pretty used to faulty hardware lol. I'm not angry at Nintendo. As long as they keep making great games like SMG, MP:Trilogy, SSB:B ect.. I'm happy. But I really do hope they bring back some of their ****cs, Star Fox anyone? F-Zero? Kid Icarus? A good Kirby game would be nice aswell.

I guess this is the first generation that I've been "hardcore" but like someone else said, I think we're in a golden age for gaming. With the technology now almost anything is possible and there are some great innovations in the industry, with digital distribution allowing more indie and low budget games to see the light of day, motion-controls allowing new experiences and introducing gaming to different audiences and online services expanding the console experience. There are some trends though that I really dislike, abuse of DLC being the worst for me, PC getting shafted though I'm much of PC gamer and the focus on motion-controls, 3D and other gimmicks which I'm for but I don't want them to become the standard.
i like this thread. ok. i'll play along.

Top 5 this gen (In no Particular Order):
Favorite system this gen: Playstation 3
Thoughts-
I hope this gen does not end. It's expensive. but a lot of fun. graphically i am satisfied, there really isn't much more room for vast improvements graphically, and really it isn't needed. Each console has their strengths, though the PS3's and 360's seem to be evening out - from my point of view. Still stunned how far away and ahead the Wii went. This generation i've truly returned to gaming. i played my very first Ratchet and Clank game this generation (Tools of Destruction, currently playing A Crack in Time) and loved it. and my first Metal Gear Solid game (one of my favorites - gonna be playing through the original soon on my PSP Go). picking up Gran Turismo 5 and Final Fantasy 13 as my first BOUGHT (with my own money and keeping) entries into the series. inFamous, Dead Space, Bioshock, Batman Arkham all really impressed me. it also marks the first time i've bought a Nintendo product (my DS Lite), i personally hated the N64, and since buying the PS2 haven't returned to the Nintendo home console since - though i am considering buying a Wii and selling my 360.
I began this generation ecstatic for the PS3, with it's early fall back, i sided with 360. last March i finally bit the bullet and re-entered the PS3. initally regretted spending so much but slowly and surely as my library grew, it didn't seem to matter anymore. over the course of the summer my PS3 was turned on just about every day. i can still count how many times i turned my 360 on.... 2 days and that was to play a game or two. Now my 360 sits collecting dust, while my PS3 is my engine, and with Netflix and Cross Game Chat coming soon (the two things i wanted on my PS3 that Xbox Live can provide) i have even less of a reason to keep my 360. What tipping me to go get a Wii to replace my 360 is the smalller but very unique games and some great old characters like Mario, Zelda, Samus, as well as access to the virtual console.
I like Home, at first it was nothing special, but as time has passed (it's been less then a year so far) and so much content has been added, and now with Netflix on the way you know Sony is gonna copy Microsoft, and add the party function for friends to meet up in Home to play and enjoy movies together. I don't mind motion controls so long as they are done right, if it's waggle your out of trouble then it's just laziness.
Next year is - for all intensvie purposes - the year of the GAMER, next year is that magical year when the majority of the big big hit titles we've been waiting for are coming out. each platform have quite a few big exclusives coming to their platform, be it the Wii, the PC, the PS3/360 or the handhelds.
My most anticipated games i'm getting:
so yeah this gen has been good to me and i've been overall happy with it. Probably won't jump on board quickly in the next generation as i'll still be enjoying this one. Looking forward to seeing what the competition will bring next generation.
Wow...

Thoughts on this gen:
I like this gen because of the many great titles coming out, there's just too little time to play/finish them all.
I don't like this gen because of all the money grabbing by some companies: paying for pictures, wallpapers, paying to customize your avatar (360), paying for mappacks, paying for stuff that's already on the disc. It's unbelievable how some people spend there money on those things, and it's unbelievable that some companies charge money for the smallest of things.

Bioshock, MGS4, Uncharted 1/2, GTA4, COD4, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead soon to add to the list will be Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2, L.A. Noire, FF13/Versus 13, Heavy Rain, Last Guardian and Agent.
Too lazy to say all my thoughts. I will say though that lots of people are spoiled and think just because a singleplayer game is 10 hours means it's the end of the world, not realizing that's basically the same length as games last-gen with the exception of RPG's. Games this gen have all improved from last-gen as far as i'm concerned, except Wii games for the most part.
Wait... were you actually serious when you said that the Wii was you favorite console this generation? :oNAPK1NSI lol'd hahaha

This gen got me back into gaming. I was a huge gamer in the NES, Genisis, and PS1 days, got a PS2 and played it a lot but from 2002 to 2005 didn't play really anything. Then I got a 360 with dead rising next game I got was R6V and I was hooked online play all the way. This gen did also ruin single player for me I only enjoy playing online.

Steady stream of great games for all platforms, but nothing groundbreaking yet, lot of it is still the same as last gen with a slightly shinier graphics, cover system and tacked on multiplayer. Many have even gone backwards in terms of depth, and some nasty trends like dlc have begun to emerge. The future looks bright though, I think the best games of this gen have yet to shown themselves.

Favorite System: Wii. All the systems are great, but the titles on the Wii fit my tastes better then the others.
Thoughts: This is a great gen. All the systems are worth owning, and I'm glad I have them all. That said, I wish there were more platformers, more JRPGs, and just plain more unique games out there, and that those games would garner the sales to get publishers' attention. I feel we're getting too much Rinse and Repeat: CoD, GH, RB, Halo, Resistance, even Uncharted are all popping out games too close together.
Age: 27 Oh, and I'm a guy. Like 99% of SW and 90% of Gamespot. 5 Games (no particular order): Demon's Souls (so good) Mass Effect (starts slow but by the end one of my favorites) SMG (just. fun.) Fallout 3 (didn't even beat it, but enjoyed every bit of side questiness) Left 4 Dead (can zombie killing with friends get more fun? L4D2 will tell) Favorite System is the 360 Thoughts: Fun games, lots of options. Too pricey, perhaps, but with online stores, it's so much easier to get good deals than in the past (gaming-wise). Not so happy with the Wii. Really surprised with the PS3 (but that's what you get for buying after it gets "cheap"). Really want to play Uncharted 2. Might just jump on that.Jandurin
You made a thread asking if UC2 was worth it and you seemed shocked to see UC2 on so many people's top 5 list. I have to say, I am not surprised UC2 is so loved, but I am totally surprised at how many people have put in DEMON'S SOULS in their top 5. This is surely the sleeper hit of 2009, just look at all the people who have it in their top 5, yourself included!
Well I came to one conclusion. SW is a giant sausage fest:P. Theres only like 4 girls here. Also great thread.

Favorite system: Really tough question. I'd say I like the PS3, 360, and PC fairly equally. It's easier to say which ones I reallydon't use much, namely the Wii, DS, and PSP.
Thoughts on this Generation: Prior to this gen, I've always been the only one of my friends who played video games regularly. That all changed, recently, though... most of them have recently aquired Xbox 360s, and it's cool to see my hobby gain mainstream attention and acceptance. Online playseems to define this era, and it seems exclusives are becoming rarer, which is nice because there's less of a reason to buy all these pricey consoles/PC hardware. I actually have some friends thathave traditionally only played PC games whoare considering a consolepurchasefor a more streamlined experience... something I thought would never happen.

My favorite system so far has been the Wii, but the PS3 is really catching up right now. I think with the release of NSMBWii in a couple of weeks, the Wii will be back firmly in the lead again.
I've never been happier as a gamer with my PSWii combination. There are too many good games to choose from, based on the amount of time I can actually play. I've been waiting for a true RPG that really suits my fancy, but that may change with FFXIII coming up. We'll see.

Top Five this Gen (In order):
1. Demon's Souls (PS3)
2. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Multi)
3. Civilization IV (PC)
4. Mirror's Edge (Multi)
5. Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)
Favorite System: It's a toss up between my PC and PS3. Since I don't play nearly enough games on my PC as I do on my PS3, I'll give the slight edge to the PS3.
Thoughts - Very nice - each system offers something I'm willing to try out.
The only disappointment(s) I have is this generation shifted towards online play and my damn PSP. . .
But first online component - it's basically the norm these days to have some form of online play which, in my opinion, lead to devs focusing more on their online portion of their game rather than giving us thatdeep single player experience that we were accustom to last generation.
PSP - I bought this PSP from one of my friends, at a LOW price I might add. He got sick of it and decided to just. . . hand it to me basically. But enough of that - my PSP is nothing but a dust collecter. Sometimes when I want to play it, I can't find the damn thing. It has NOTHING that I'm intersted in - if it wasn't for the announcement of Valkyria Chronicles 2 coming to the PSP, this thing would just be another memory for me to wipe away. I don't want to sell it, but if I don't see something of interest in the next month. . . . well, I don't know. (Come on Sega, put VC2 on the PS3 *pouts*)
Surprise(s) -
1) I was really surprised with Civlization IV. (My first PC game this gen) All thanks to my roomate for getting me into PC gaming, cheers. I think I've put well over 150 hours on this game. I don't know how to explain it, but I just have that "OMG DAMN" feeling everytime I play it. After, this lead to me getting Empire: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Fallout 3 & Fallout Trilogy. My whole PC collection right there, and it's only going to grow when I finally build my first PC next year. Can't do it right know. . .
2) Mirror's Edge: This game came out of nowhere. I first saw the demo of it on PSN and decided to try it, why not what's to lose. I was simply amazed - the atmosphere, that dynamic feel of leaping from bulding to building. I've never experienced anything like it. After playing through the demo four times. I didn't get the full game immediatly, but the thought of getting it never left my mind - I bought it two months ago and it has been one of the best $20.00 purchases EVAR.
Anticipated games: Coming out/ or already released -
1) Star Wars: The Old Republic (I don't care what's coming out next year, nothing will top this, NOTHING)
2) The Last Guardian
3) Mafia II
4) Bad Company II
5) Mass Effect & Mass Effect 2

Not the best generation of games, not the worst. Been pretty happy with the constant flow of good games, though I have to say I think 2-3 gens ago there were more great games and not just good ones. This gen has had man almost great games, like Mass Effect and Mushroom Men. Games that with a little bit more polish they would shine forever. Overal I think it is a better Gen than last.

Thoughts:
I'll keep it short. This gen has been both outstanding and disappointing. The action genre has been been fantastic especially with tps and fps. While we're flooded in them, games like Gears, Uncharted, KZ2, Halo 3 and Crysis bring shootey satisfaction.
My only gripe in fact is that rpgs as a genre is a hollow shell of it's former self.

Thoughts: Despite all the flames it gets around here, I have found the Wii to be a perfectly capable secondary console, with lots of enjoyable games popping up at the right times when I have nothing new to play on the PC. That being said though there is almost nothing on the "real" consoles that has interested me this generation, pretty much everything has felt years behind what I've experienced on the PC this generation, but I guess that is in part fault to me having niche tastes in literally everything. Exceptions of course to Demon's Souls!
