Alanah Pearce joins Sony Santa Monica Studios as a writer. You read that correctly.

Alanah Pearce, of IGN and RoosterTeeth/Funhaus is now a videogame writer at Sony Santa Monica Studios.

I mean, I've heard weirder things. IGN's Mitch Dyer went to EA and wrote star wars games. IGN's Jeremy Dunham MADE Rocket League, etc.......

Lets see what this means for God of War: Ragnarok.

I stop by her channel every now and then, though I'm not a subscriber. Good for her. Sounds like a dream job.

Not sure how this is System Wars material, though.

Clearly she's qualified within some capacity, so good on her... I can't add much beyond that.

That's an awesome job! Wonder if she will be working on GoW or some new franchise? Last gen the studio made just one game, which is crazy when you think about it. Ragnarok is planned for next year (but I feel a delay coming). So most of the story is finished?

Wonder what they will do next. Releasing a GoW once a gen seems a bit dull if that is all the will do.

Ah, time goes by so fast. It seems it was just a month ago that PS fanboys were calling her a whore and making threats on twitter because she was a Xbox fan and now she's working with one of Sony's biggest studios. So inspiring.

Sadly, even in the announcement picture is caked up female jovially pointing towards breasts as to signal the male acolytes into eulogy.

These mounds essentially act as a high starting persuasion stat where otherwise extreamly unattractive troglodytes would fail.

In many ways, people like Jennifer Hamburger Helper should be admired, she clearly got to where she did through talent.

To be fair, if the 2 moderators above us already posted here, it could mean it's SW related and let's not forget we have various people from game developers switching to someone else such as this person joining Sony/MS isn't new to SW but youtubers, it looks like they will be treated the same if Alanah Pearce is joining Santa Monica Studios which is a big deal hence the heavy discussion here.

Unfortunately Mitch Dyer wrote Battlefront 2 and Squadrons.

Which explains a lot.

Battlefront 2 had a cool setup, but it quickly devolved into meaningless nothingness that was hard to follow.

What's up with Squadrons story?

Don't know who she is and don't really care but all the best to her.

Squadrons has people stand and read out their Wikis, blurting out Starwars sounding things with no actual substance. Things I recognize.

Played something like 12 hours and, without exaggerating cuntyness for the sake playing up posts, can honestly not recall a single characters name.

Like, just as an example, this is Rebels, predominately aimed at a younger audience.

That 2 minute scene, has better writing, better characters actual substance to it than two Starwars games amounting to dozens, if not hundreds of hours with dozens upon dozens of characters thrown at the player.

I'm kinda glad they didn't let that asshole touch Thrawn, would be legit pissed.

What they really need to do is get Timothy Zahn involved. They won't get Dave Filoni as he'll be busy as hell.

But the sooner this goober is away from the franchise the better. Just awful.

Companies don't care about console loyalty when they're hiring people.

It amazes me how many people are bothered by this news. Very inconsequential, yet people are bothered.

Isn't it hilarious that people on System Wars actually believe companies care about system wars. Seriously it is absolutely hilarious.

In fact, they actually care about the opposite. Companies don't want to hire fanboys because they need people to be unbiased about the game they're making. One of my instructors works at a particular game company in Washington and was afraid to tell them in their interview that they knew nothing about the games they make. When it came up, they were basically like, "perfect. that's exactly what we're looking for. We do not want fanboys."

On the subject of Alanah getting that job, I have feelings on that. I pay attention to her work and she doesn't seem to know anything about narrative design other than she wants to do it and doesn't believe education is important to learning a skill.

The old ways of narrative design in games where it was just "write things and we'll do it" is becoming obsolete very, very fast. Not knowing structure, form, etc, is going to get narrative designers weeded out of their jobs in the next five years.

@IMAHAPYHIPPO: I mean, if that a bad thing? We have people that go to college and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to get a degree in gender studies and then complain they are in debt for student loans.

Sad. Most gamers will never see her work. Oh well, not like I knew who she was prior to this thread.
