Alarming number of ps4's bricking.

84 out of 249 reviews report bricking. That's a whopping 30%! Most of these are from verified purchasers. Sony has a real problem on their hands...

You can check the reviews on Amazon and see whether the person really bought the console from Amazon, as there is a tag that says "Amazon Verified Purchase" below the name of the buyer, so I don't believe people are making stuff up.

Not hard to see that most are verified purchasers. Your excuse is not valid.

Dang there is a lot of Amazon Verified Purchase in there. This is looking to be far worse then rrod. At least the 360 users could get a long time with the system if it ended up with rrod but the PS4 most can not even have it for a day.

I do believe there is a problem, between the firmware and some QC issues.

Glad I didn't pre-order a launch machine. I'm 100% these issues will be ironed out with future shipments and later revisions. Console launches are always too full of issues for me. I decided awhile back to wait for the first good bundle or special edition console (hoping for a MGS V limited edition console like they did for PS3).

There's actually a good few people having broken PS4s but it's not on the level of RROD or anything yet

There's a good few people on GAF with issues too, apparently some units have faulty fans that don't spin up and cause overheating so the system shuts itself down

@seanmcloughlin: RROD usually happen after playing the xbox360 for a period of time so we would have to wait some time after launch if something like RROD ever happens in mass scale for the PS4.

haha, this will be awfully ironic if we see the same thing happen next week with the Xbox One. And I'm VERY confident we will because as soon as One bricked One comes out, then fanboys will go crazy and make it sound like "300% of Teh XBOXerz be bad"

what makes you think other companies don't buy other products to give negative reviews or vice versa? they all do it, some have been caught many times.

Something like RROD could easily happen in a week or even months so I give a least a year to see how well the PS4 life span goes. It would be disastrous if an RROD happen at early launch in tops with some software issues before playing a game.

These people have multiple reviews over multiple years. I wonder if Amazon has a bad batch of consoles or something. Many of the complaints on the playstation forums are from people who purchased from Amazon.

Man, I'm having one hell of a time with my Quad. Pity some people are having issues, no one I know is. Besides there are millions of PS4s out there, some are bound to break like every other electronic device. Stop with the reaching already...sheesh.

Yep, thats how it goes. The ones who are mad are always the loudest. The fact that there will be millions of units sold will mean that even if there is a .1% chance of it happening there will still be tons of negative comments and reviews from that group.
