I got Alien Isolation about a month ago and just completed it - If my jaw was not on the floor because of how stunning it looks and sounds, then I was absolutely cringing in terror as I hid from the very smart and cunning Alien ever-present throughout the game (except for the first few hours or so). There was never a dull moment and I can't say enough about this game. Here are a few screenshots to show just how truly amazing this games looks because it may well have the best graphics I've ever seen. Granted this is on PC in 1080p with Ultra settings, but still...These are in-game screenshots that I took.
Is that some next-gen shit or what?
Anyway, what I'm getting as is I am certainly not the only person who has enjoyed the game.
Metacritic - 81 (84% User Reviews) - With IGN's score of 5.9 (although IGN Italy gave it an 8.0) and Gamespot's score of 6.0 severely crippling the overall score.
PC Gamer - 2014 Game of the Year and a score of 93%
Steam (where it's currently on sale for $24.99) - 94% positive reviews out of 5,455 user reviews.
On IGN's review of the game, the comments section is filled with nothing but people saying how shocked they are that this game could have possibly gotten the score that it did, with users having nothing but positive things to say about the game. The comments are essentially just bashing the reviewer of the game.
The Steam user reviews are also overwhelmingly positive with users there also asking how these major review sites could have possibly given this such a poor score.
So in conclusion, I think that I've completely given up trusting review scores from IGN and Gamespot; this is just another prime example. When they give every Call of Duty a 9 or above every single year but give a truly unique and exceptional game like this such a low score, it makes me question their credibility. After all, IGN and Gamespot's score is based off of ONE PERSON'SOPINION. I find it hard to believe that such large and well-known sites can have the opinion of one person reflect the opinion of the entire site. Most people see that IGN gave the game a 5.9 and quickly pass it off, thinking that it must be shit. But that's merely what one person (who clearly didn't understand what the hell he was playing) thinks and it can unfortunately impact the decision of thousands on whether or not they will play it. If 94% of the users on Steam who played it liked it and 84% of the people on Metacritic liked it, that should be what we're focusing on.
