You seem misinformed about computers. Regardless of the average "hermit's" (PC user, I am guessing) rig, a PC can be built with nearly the same specifications for a fraction of the cost that Alienwares sell for. That means the steam hardware survey does not really add anything to your opinion.

Besides the logo, they are good looking while the compact design of some of them is probably convenient, that makes it difficult to upgrade and at this point really only adds to the long-term cost of maintaining a PC setup. Alienwares are for people who can afford above average computers, but refuse to build one themselves.
