Come on! Isn't the new 3 year warranty evidence enough?!? Unless you can give me another reason they would spend a billion dollars to make this happen. Oh wait I can, to avoid being sued!
That article doesnt say that, if you bothered to read it.I know but you can easily INFER that. But please let your lem logic tell me why MS extended the warranty.
I know but...there you go.../threadOk good way to avoid my question, but you still come off as an idiot. Look the article says 360 suffers a design flaw and Microsoft put a billion into the 3 year warranty. Can you not put two and two together? Hell I'll do it for you, because the 360 suffers a design flaw MS is forced to extend the warranty by 3 years. I think the article points that out very clearly.
So what? You are treating this like news....its obvious there is/was a design flaw. I posted extensively about this weeks ago. So what? A design flaw does not mean all units will fail. Just like when your car is recalled because there is a design flaw in the power steering unit so that when you turn hard left over a bump it could fail...that doesn't mean that all cars with that power steering will fail.......get it?
More importantly, there is now a 3 year warranty...that is huge. The only issue now is POSSIBLE inconvenience for a few weeks.
And clearly they have 'solved' the problem.....which is why they did this now. The 65nm units are in production and will hit retail this fall. Clearly they have thoroughly tested these units....otherwise it would be insane to offer an openended 3 yr warranty. And as has already been established, newly repaired/refurb units are now coming with better cooling.
The upshot is that all existing owners are protected for 3 years. All new owners won't have the problem come the fall. And if the better cooling 'fails' as a fix....then the worst that happens is that you have to send it in one more time (or once total) and get a new 65nm unit....since it will be far more prudent for MS to replace with a new cheaper 65 nm unit than continue to refurb old units, once the 65nm is available in quantity.
Now that I have a 3 year warranty and know that the 65nm is already in production, I no longer have any concerns. But if youare paranoid, wait till the fall and get a 65nm unit.
But, hey, thanks for telling me something I already know. When you calm down and stop waving your fanboy arms around and think about, you'll figure out that yer a week late and a hue and cry short.
