As a PS3 fan, I want to come forth and declare that if any review site and/or journalist is reviewing and scoring MODNATION RACERS, they are not to be believed and all their credibility here forth should be dropped.

Now, I've played in the beta (key courtessy of HIPHOPGAMER), and the game was really fun....It's basically Mario Kart meets Little Big Planet meets an interactive social game lobby....much fun to be had.

But if you are reviewing a game that has a Strong and MAJOR online presence to it, you are disingenuine to try and be reviewing this game before it launches.

Hey, as a pretty hardcore PS3 fan I would like the IGN "pwnage", but like I keep saying TRUTH IS TRUTH.....These early Modnation Racer reviews are BS.

Not really... multiplayer is multiplayer....

Lots of big MP games have been reviewed before actual online multiplayer was working.

I didn't think I was going to agree...but I do have to agree with the point of early reviews that rely on online communities.

To review a game early with Heavy Online modes is a mistake, for any game. I never really pay that much attention as I'm not a modnation guy. I did get the Beta or whatever though.

I'd disagree. I've played many, many games in LAN type situations and the same games over the internet - the experience is very different. I wouldn't say the review is completely dismissible, but reviews that take into account the real online community will be more reliable.

Well, I would say that the online only gets better after the release.

And all reviews out now gave it 90% without the solid community. I think that should say something about the game anyway (or the website).

Halo 3 reviewed Sept 23, released Sept 25... Strong multiplayer component, still reviewed before release. This goes for many strong multiplayer component games, is this news to you or do you just have a grudge against ModNation Racers

Watch some revoews of online games and you'll notice a lot of the players tags start with IGN,GT and so forth.

I disagree because the only way these reviewers gets to review the game is when the developer is ready to send them a copy of their game. So whatever they send is fair game for criticism or praise. And so far I don't think MNR is getting bad reviews at all. I'll get this some time over the holidays.

Not true when there's a prominent single player campaign in the game. They can also properly review the level creator tools as well. Plus they tend to play online with the devs, test gamers, and other critics before a game is released. It's enough to give a good idea of how the online works. For a game like MAG, that doesn't have a single player, I would agree with you but not Modnation Racers.

No, its not. Compare playing splitscreen halo to online halo. Its fun, but its a whole new experience. Also with the way MNR is set up it is a bit deciving, with the games main lobby being fully intergrated online and all.

The online community does not make the game, and should not be reviewed as such.

prolly because there are hundreds (or thousands) of reviewers in the US, Canada, and Europe and other parts of the Americas who where sent a review build by Sony and they could all play online together??? just saying. not to mention the game might also be given out to Sony's internal dev studios. aaand prolly multiple copies for each reviewer. who knows? you don't know.

First of all hes not a ps3 fan. Just a lemming/sheep who is bashing the game.

Second, the games online community has NOTHING to due with how the game plays and

the kind of experience you recieve from it.

Thirdly, this game is pissing off so many lemmings and sheep its actually hilarous to see

what stupid excuses they come up with to deny that this game is dishing out massive ownage.

Why should Modnation racers be singled out? Games like Bad Company 2, Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2 etc. (all multiplayer heavy games) were reviewed before release. Sorry, but modnation isn't getting special treatment.

You can easily review multiplayer games before they go out since so many reviewers are playing it. It's not BS. That's how reviews work.

The reviews have been fine for the most part and some of the reviewers on neogaf have commented on the online portion saying that the servers have been up for two weeks. What's your problem?

mD-

Servers aren't getting smashed by a couple dozen or so reviewers playing on them. That being said, I fully expect the servers to not handle the game well when the game releases as that's the case with most online games.

Yeah, but to be fair U2's multi player is the secondary mode of play in the game. I'm sure very few people even bought it for that. LBP is hardly dampened by lag.

But, MR, the game will depend upon smooth online play, so I hope they got that right.

why the game didn't change much, and really has been forgotten, I sold my copy after about a month or 2 when i found that nothing had really improved from the beta except the worst glitches.

Yeah, there were reviews on the game from the beta..lol wut. I bet non of the reviewers cared to play to level 60 on any faction. A lot probably played up to level 10 on each faction and thought they could write a professional review. MAG should easily be at least a AA on MC IMO. At least it got its AA here.

Well technically speaking all games are reviewed the same way......so it's apples to apples since most games are online these days. besides if they played beta that should be enough to give them an idea how the online will play with a community.
