Once again Sony proves they can't innovate and resort to ripping off their competitors. Let's all hear it for Sony! (inb4 the only rebuttal Cows can make: jelly)princeofshapeir
I'm not really a Sony fan, but this statement is completely unfair. By your logic, does that mean every 2-D fighter is a ripoff of Street Fighter and every 3-D fighter is a ripoff of Virtua Fighter? Its unfair to praise Namco, Tecmo, SNK, and others for using the SF and VF formula and refining it while demonizing Sony for "ripping off" Nintendo.
From what I've seen and read, Allstars seems to have a different style of gameplay from Smash Brothers. There are no percents, special attacks are generally required to KO opponents, and the stages are more enclosed.
So, its not like they are ripping off Smash Bros in every aspect and simply plugging in Sony Characters. It looks like they are taking steps to make Allstars a unique game.
Which means its no different from the approach SNK, Namco, and Temco have taken over they years. I don't hear people call Tekken a VF ripoff or King of Fighters a SF ripoff just because they share elements with those games. People seem to enjoy the things those games bring to the table without resorting to the "its a ripoff!" argument.
Why can't Allstars be given the same courtesy?
