Altaiir, most badass ever?

I have seen quite a few threads in the past about who's most badass. I saw typical answers like masterchief, solid snake, marcus fenix etc...but I would say the biggest videogame badass ever was altaiir. I mean, look at the stuff he was doing in the frikkin 12th century, imagine what kind of badass he would be if he had access to masterchief's or hell, even solid snakes arsenal of weapons, mixed with his skillset, he would easily be the most badass character ever, if given the chance to have some modern weapons. I'm hyped up for ac2 because hopefully desmond will stop bein such a puss and bust out those assassin skills that have appearantly bled over to him.

I know, longest run-on sentence ever, but 4 a.m. is too late to worry about that stuff.

Its all about perspective:

Mortal vs Mortal = average level of badass.

DemiGod vs God = Major Badass.

In the realm of greek mythologies (which God of War is based) Demigods are nothing more than Humans with special powers that put them slightly above humans. So a demigod has increased abilities like super strength but nothing to the extent of gods. So while he would be super powerful, he would be nothing compared to a god. Demigods have the same weaknesses as normal mortals and in some cases even more to even the playing field (Achilles = achilles tendon, Samson = his hair) So this demigod, took on and killed a god. Lemme try to explain this to you, Humans are peasant ants compared to gods, Demigods are the fighter ants and Gods are Humans. Now you could probably crush and kill any ant that stood in your way. So the fact that Kratos a demigod managed to kill a God is far more amazing than altair killing a couple of simple mortals.

Dont get me wrong, i like altair and he is pretty badass, but you have to respect Kratos. His whole journey has been far more trying. Another thing that strongly applies to badassness is how much effort the protagonist uses. Kratos puts his all into it, [spoiler] dying twice in the course of his journey. I mean give the guy a freaking break here! He killed Atropos/Lachesis/Clotho thus allowing him to control time. I mean even the gods AND the titans kneeled down to the sisters of fate. (I know GoW got it wrong, the sisters control fate not time, thats Chronos biz, but we are talking about this from GoW point of view :P) [/spoiler]

Your points are good too, and i agree that alot of kratos' badass comes from his power. I mean its not like altair has the raw brute strength to rip a man in half with his bare hands. And Kratos is in a more mythical world so everything is exaggerated beyond belief. I gotta say though, nothing is more amazing that watching Altair dive off a roof into a bale of hay :D

I take it that you haven't heard of Chains of Olympus...which puts him on mortal status. And even if you disarm them, Kratos by a mile beats Alatair easily...and then there's Dante, no DT and no weapons. Need I say more......?

While it is true that an entity with godlike power would completely obliterate altaiir, the point is that badass isn't who would beat who, or does it even spread across different games. Altaiir is badass in the context of Assassin's creed, whereas a god is badass in god of war.
