Ok, I am hoping that some of you people can answer this question for me. My girlfriend and I live together. Today for Xmas, we received Guitar Hero World Tour with 2 guitars for Wii as a joint gift from her mother. She has a Wii, I have a 360. We have both discussed getting Rockband because of the drum feature, and she wants to return the game we got today ($119.99) and get the World Tour package for $190.00 because it has the drum set. From what I can tell, the drum that comes with this combo is completely useless with any other game on the Wii system, whereas the Rockband package for 360 @ $129.99 is compatible with Rockband, Rockband 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour. When I mentioned this to her, she whined that she doesn't have a 360, although mine is open for her to play any time she wants. Basically, it comes down to paying more and getting less as far as I am concerned, and I think she is being completely illogical and unreasonable. Any comments?

So if you 2 live together, I don't see the problem. She is being unreasonable, get Rockband set, its cheaper and you can use it with other games.

Exactly. I just want some more opinions to make sure that I am correct about the compatibility issues with the Wii version and other games.

No, you need to re-read. Before today, NEITHER of us had Guitar Hero or Rockband on either Wii OR 360. As of today, we have Guitar Hero World Tour (2 guitars, no drums or microphone) on Wii. From what I understand, if we were to return the 2 guitar set and exchange it (plus pay an additional 70 dollars) for the complete set on Wii, the drum controller would be USELESS for any game EXCEPT World Tour on Wii.

Now, we can buy Rockband on 360 for less, and the drum that comes with it IS compatible with other games. So, we can in fact buy Rockband with all controllers AND the Guitar Hero World Tour software for 360, and it ends up being about 10 dollars LESS than just buying the Guitar Hero package for Wii.

There is no compatability between Rockband and Guitar Hero on Wii to the best of my knowledge. You either own both sets of instruments or you are stuck with one franchise or the other. If you can use Google, you will find the exact same information that I did in regard to compatibility between the two on both Wii and 360.

Can someone with some actual knowledge of the subject please weigh in?

I tried posting a link to the site with the compatibility chart, but for some reason Firefox won't allow copy and paste? Just google Rockband guitar hero compatibility and its the 3rd link down from the top.

No, you're wrong. The Wii World Tour drums are compatible with Rockband.

I don't know about compatablity with GH and RB on the wii, but I would totally exchange it and get RB 2 on the 360. Disregarding achievements, better online play, better graphics and sound, I'm pretty sure the Wii doesn't have DLC and that's an AMAZINGLY awesome and important aspect of both GH and RB. And I enjoy RB2 much, much more than GHWT. So, in other words, I agree with your idea. And btw, another good thing about RB2 on 360 is that you can go rent RB1 and pay $5 and rip all the songs into your RB2 library. 55 or so songs for $10.

Yeah, I dont get it. If you live together, then why would she say she doesnt have a 360? And the way you broke it down, it obviously seems smarter to get the 360 version since its instruments are compatible with other games...

The World Tour drums work with Rockband 1 and 2.
