If your first post is a topic in SW you often don't get taken seriously.

And yes... your unlucky.

You're just an average Xbox 360 owner. Multple RRODs is a rite of passage for owning the 360. The case of the PS3 is unlucky, I had two die with the same problems. The lesson is avoid launch models like the plague.

Tip: start installing 360 games on your hard drive. Dramatically reduces the chances of RRoD. As for the PS3, you're just unlucky.

i have not had a single RROD since i started installing games, less power=less heat, no DVD rom spinning = less power.

They were 60GB models. God how I loathe the 60 gigs which are up there with launch-Xbox 360s in terms of crappiness. I got a slim now, all is kosher :D

You have had 4 xbox 360's? why didn't you just send the first one in for repair :?. My xbox broke once this gen, E74 code :x MS replaced the MB though and it has run really well ever since. This gens hardware is plagued with issues though I agree, I even had to buy a cleaning kit because my Wii wont read dual layer (first issue ever with a Nintendo console) and I know a few people who have had PS3's die (although you will hear here that it doesn't happen  thats just how this site is).

apparently its not uncommon for the 360 to break (rrod) so thats not unlucky.. the ps3 breaking twice is EXTREMELY lucky.

I had RROD once on my launch 360 but i only play 2 hours a day at most. How many hours do you play on your consoles? Thats probably the main reason.

doubtful... my ps3 is on like 6+ hours a day. i dont know what caused his YLOD (dunno what causes that :S) but the blu ray drive most likely has nothing to do with the amount of hours he had played on it.

i think it has a lot to do with where they where manufactured, i always try to buy 360 manufactured by the FDOU team, they seem to break down less and they get the latest upgrades before everybody, there seems to be a variation in parts between different factorys, hence the 4 different types of DVD ROM drive used in the 360, Samsung, toshiba,LG or benQ.

In his case it was probably a coincidence but im pretty sure that sooner or later every hardware fails.

absolutely agree, the haet these conso;es put out causes cyclic heat damage over time, evry console wares itself out eventually, i don't see the 360 as being faulty, it just has a very short lifespan, you know what they say, the brighter the flame the quicker the burn, lol

Maybe you have poor power coming into the house.

Edit: I've lost some PC accessories due to badly fluctuating electricity.

Damn do you keep them in an oven? Never heard of anyone having so many failures, maybe just you live in a warm climate and it doesnt seem too hot to you but your consoles are feeling it A LOT!

waltefmoney

I thought installing games wasn't mandatory on the 360? So it seems it is if you want it to keep working. Another positive lost for the 360 compared to the ps3

It's not. But it makes loading faster and reduces chances of it RRoD-ing. It's recommended, but not required.

I've had 2 YloD's as well, but since I primarily play PS3 it would make more sense for me. You having multiple console failures is WAY unlucky.

big difference, the WHOLE game is installed to the 360 HDD, the DVD rom only spins to verify the disk, the disc thenn stops spinning entirely, you play the whole game from the HDD,PC style, saves on ware 'n' tare.

Maybe there's something wrong with your gaming environment. Is there a lot of dust around there? Do you live near the beach? Maybe oxidation is to blame. Could be something else. Or it could be bad luck. Be a mad scientist. Take all your consoles and create super freak Frankenstein console :).

my Xbox 360 RROD'd once, got repaired and never had a problem, upgraded to a Jasper RE5 LE Elite and no problems, PS3 no problems (pray it doesn't as it has BC and I still love playing PS2 games), and my Wii has dead pixel issues since I got it (more an annoyance from time to time than a functionality problem)

I'm so happy because today I fixed my YLOD'd PS3! It took me all day to find all the right materials and tools, disasembling it and asembling it again and it worked!! I felt so unlucky some weeks ago when, both, my PS3 and my computer went kaput. Now I have both of them back so I feel lucky again :) Too bad to hear you're not doing well though...

on the ps3 side, yeah. on the 360 side, your part of the norm because i've gone through 3 diffrent 360's myself 2 with RROD, the other with E74
