You're just an average Xbox 360 owner. Multple RRODs is a rite of passage for owning the 360. The case of the PS3 is unlucky, I had two die with the same problems. The lesson is avoid launch models like the plague.Floppy_Jimon my god floppy, never thought of you as unlucky mate, but 2 ps3's? that's unlucky dude
Tip: start installing 360 games on your hard drive. Dramatically reduces the chances of RRoD. As for the PS3, you're just unlucky.
i have not had a single RROD since i started installing games, less power=less heat, no DVD rom spinning = less power.Tip: start installing 360 games on your hard drive. Dramatically reduces the chances of RRoD. As for the PS3, you're just unlucky.

God how I loathe the 60 gigs which are up there with launch-Xbox 360s in terms of crappiness. I got a slim now, all is kosher :D
You have had 4 xbox 360's? why didn't you just send the first one in for repair :?. My xbox broke once this gen, E74 code :x MS replaced the MB though and it has run really well ever since. This gens hardware is plagued with issues though I agree, I even had to buy a cleaning kit because my Wii wont read dual layer (first issue ever with a Nintendo console) and I know a few people who have had PS3's die (although you will hear here that it doesn't happen  thats just how this site is).
doubtful... my ps3 is on like 6+ hours a day. i dont know what caused his YLOD (dunno what causes that :S) but the blu ray drive most likely has nothing to do with the amount of hours he had played on it.I had RROD once on my launch 360 but i only play 2 hours a day at most. How many hours do you play on your consoles? Thats probably the main reason.

In his case it was probably a coincidence but im pretty sure that sooner or later every hardware fails.

absolutely agree, the haet these conso;es put out causes cyclic heat damage over time, evry console wares itself out eventually, i don't see the 360 as being faulty, it just has a very short lifespan, you know what they say, the brighter the flame the quicker the burn, lolHi folks..so my problem is how long me consoles stay alive, got all 3 current gen but all die alot xbox360 1..rrod 2..rrod 3..rrod 4..alive ps3 1..bluray drive died 2..ylod (if that right term) 3..alive wii 1..still alive but tbh just used as a bookend to hold me games up :) all are placed on top a united so no carpet, heat etc but still dies :( is it just this gen or me?Devilcobra
Maybe you have poor power coming into the house.
Edit: I've lost some PC accessories due to badly fluctuating electricity.

I thought installing games wasn't mandatory on the 360? So it seems it is if you want it to keep working. Another positive lost for the 360 compared to the ps3

It's not. But it makes loading faster and reduces chances of it RRoD-ing. It's recommended, but not required.
I've had 2 YloD's as well, but since I primarily play PS3 it would make more sense for me. You having multiple console failures is WAY unlucky.

big difference, the WHOLE game is installed to the 360 HDD, the DVD rom only spins to verify the disk, the disc thenn stops spinning entirely, you play the whole game from the HDD,PC style, saves on ware 'n' tare.If your first post is a topic in SW you often don't get taken seriously.
