I play games out of enjoyment. Every game I play I try to take something from that experience. Videogames to me are no different from books and film. That's why I can't understand these achievement junkies that only care about points and gamerscores and useless crap like that. why does everyone care so much about achievements and trophies?

Nope. I replay games when they are good. Not to show off to everyone else how cool I am, spending all my time earning achievements whether the game is good or not.

I don't care about them at all. Almost all of them come from just beating the game which to me is stupid. Now if they were cool like score after 3 lateral is Madden or something to that effect I might be inclined to care more but as it is it's just a running tally of what games you've beaten.

I like achievements because there fun to collect..... and I play games for enjoyment to. I don't know where you got the idea that everyone that likes collecting achievements gets zero enjoyment out of a game.

they are pointless and make you more of a dork if you brag about them to your friends.

It's just something fun on the side. Obviously the game is more important than the achievements from it lol...

I got bored of achievements eventually, and when I switched to PS3 I knew I wouldn't be getting them so i've grown use to gaming without them, which has it's upsides, I never find myself making sure I get as many achievements as possible early on in the game, I just play it for the enjoyment. Im going to give the trophies in Uncharted a go, see how it feels to have an achievements like system back, I might get into it again, I might not. But as of now I couldn't care less if all upcoming and current games I have get trophy patches, I have plenty of fun without them.

I play games out of pure enjoyment and nothing more. Achievements are nothing more than replay value added for those that have nothing better to do in the game.

I don't buy games for easy achievement points. I do however like to get as close to full 1000/1000 or 200/200 as possible.

In response to the main question:

"Am I The Only Gamer That Doesn't Give A Crap About Achievements/Trophies?"

No, plenty of people don't care about them.

I only like them when they're achievements that are actually fun to work towards, like the ones in Viva Pinata or Dead Rising. Most games just have achievements like "Beat Level X" "Beat Level X on Y Diffictuty" "Beat Game on X Difficulty", generic stuff like that that I could care less about.

The experience does come first for me. But I do like to collect acheivements and trophies if possible. I guess it's like a little side hobby in games.

Achievements give a reason for the player to keep on continue gaming and further the experience to go that extra mile in my opinion.

i dont really care about achievements because i think its pointless because their are just so many hundreds of thousands and i showed up late to the whole live thing, so i dont have many really, like pretty much all of my friends have more than me. But i care about trophies cause i feel like i was there when it started and i have a chance to get ahead of the game. If that makes any sense

I may sometimes play in a slightly different way to get an achivement/trophy, but I would not go way out of my way to get one, if they are part of typical play, then I'm cool with it, but things like complete a stage without dying, or anything that seems unlikely in some scenerios I don't care for. I may give it a try, but not put effort into it.

The only achievments or tropies I try to get are the ones that I'm usually the only one that even sees them. An example of that I am working at getting all 32 badges in Socom Combined Assault and maintain an extreamly high accuracy score (have been maintaining a 99% accuracy score so far). This is more of self gradification for me.

Nope, your not the only one. Finding a cure for cancer is an achievement, shooting an antlion isn't. I turn it off.

Naw, don't care for them both.

I usually enjoy a game without them. I play the way I want to play.

No...but hopefully you ARE the only one who is going to make a pointless thread about them.

You really didn't cover my reason for liking achievements - they're like having a dev over shoulder saying "dude, if you thought that was awesome, try this". Examples would be One Free Bullet in HL2 E1, Little Rocket Man in HL2 E2 or Wax On/Wax Off in Geometry Wars 2

It's when people scorewhore stuff like King Kong or Avatar that it gets lame. I'm far more interested in what achievements I have than how many points they total up to.

I don't care at all about achievments or trophies, they're just something the lems use to brag about how great the 360 is. Which shows there isn't much to praise.

I could care less. But they are adding them to WoW:WOTLK and the interface looks really cool. Perhaps real rewards will be offered in game like gear?

Well I sometimes try to get them for the challenge but never to show them off to anybody.
