I'm not upset they're adding the second analog stick, just disappointed that it seems they've lost faith in their own product.
Then again, you could see it as clever business to steal the Vita's thunder and the whole "we have two analog sticks". Either way, I'm certain regardless of the Vita's success or failure, Nintendo's 3DS will beat it out in sales at the end of the life cycle. After all, 3DS will have teh pokemanz.
Yeah, Pokemon FTW!!!I'm not upset they're adding the second analog stick, just disappointed that it seems they've lost faith in their own product.

As long as its an option, not a necessity, I'm indifferent. I'll probably get it at some point but it will probably be much like the Wii Motion Plus.
It'll probably be a necessity for a few third party games. Most will probably have it as an option though. I don't see it being a necessity on any Nintendo games except with maybe one game. (kinda like Wii Motion Plus and Skyward sword. :P)As long as its an option, not a necessity, I'm indifferent. I'll probably get it at some point but it will probably be much like the Wii Motion Plus.

I'm not sure that huge, hideous, bulky add-on is going to have that effect.I'm not upset they're adding the second analog stick, just disappointed that it seems they've lost faith in their own product.

Not the add-on, no. But if the revision sports it, yes.
is getting upset that Nintendo is giving in to dual analog syndrome? The 3ds is just fine with just the touch screen as a pointer in first person shooter games, since you can just look at the top screen while aiming with the bottom screen. I don't get how people can be so comfortable with dual analog when keyboard and mouse is really a lot more accurate. Motion control would have to be the second option since it blends the two control methods together, but why does the 3ds need this, and why couldn't Nintendo just use the touch screen on the Wii U controller as the aiming device while the left analog stick is fine for forward, backward, and straifing? I personally can't stand the right analog stick anymore. I know a lot of people love that right analog stick, but with better alternative methods of aiming, why can't Nintendo use those? I can't wait to hear what other's have to say.psx_warrior
Dual analogs are a good thing. I don't know how it could possibly be looked at as a negative. Imo, the 3ds never should've launched without them considering the system is going to be playing a vast number of 3d games unlike it's predecessors. At least now 3ds gamers and, probably more importantly, developers will have all the main controller inputs needed to make games play as fluidly as possible.
I don't really care one way or the other. I won't be buying the add-on unless a game I really want requires it. I also don't care if a revision comes out next year and I bought my 3DS at launch.
The only thing is the previous gen ds got along just fine without the second analog stick. Why is it such a big issue now?psx_warrior
Because the kinds of games the 3ds will be getting are so much more advanced than the ds that not having a 2nd analog stick could and will eventually be problematic for developers. It's why the original ps1 didn't really need dual analogs because the games at the time weren't demanding enough to require the extra input for camera controls and/or other featers, but the ps2, and every other console these days, downright needed 2 analog sticks because of how much bigger full 3d gaming was on it. The 3ds may not "need" it, but having it will easily be a plus.
