I don't see what was so bad about it.
The gameplay was fun.
The graphics were good for a PS2 game at the time.
I look forward to Killzone 2 alot.

I liked Killzone a lot. I bought it twice after I sold the first one to buy another game. I missed it and got the urge to play it again and got it again. I sold it again though lol To help pay to buy some more 360 games.
But I will indeed get Killzone 2 one day when I have a PS3. I like the Killzone world and rico kicks ass! His weapon is wicked

Is Rico that stealth girl with the very cool gun or no?

No Rico had the big chaingun that was also a grenade launcher. It carried 600 rounds or so I believe of ammo. And up to four rockets to fire
The girl's name I forget but her gun worked well for headshots and was quiet cause she was stealthy and also she had different routes you went down which made the gameplay a bit different when you replay it as her

Just letting everyone know, the two guys in the picture are Iranian teens, being hanged because they were gay.
The only real problem I had with killzone was the lack of vehicles in the online mode. And customization in the online mode(there was none). Hopefully that will be fixed in Killzone 2.Star67
I wish there was vehicle use in Killzone during the single campaign like in Halo. I did like whole holding the fort type missions there were through the game when you joined some others and just held down a certain area. I love that part of any FPS's

OMG! That is sad... and dude can you not use it as a joke in your thread? As for saying Lemmings will kill you or whatever and then showing a pic of two people being hung for being gay that isn't kewl dude

Yes, I recognized the picture, andI was about to say the same thing. I think using it was in bad taste. These two men are dead, and for nothing except being themselves. Why would you have something like this saved on your computer anyway?[QUOTE="Star67"]The only real problem I had with killzone was the lack of vehicles in the online mode. dang i forgot about no vehicles in the single player. What sucked was that there were tanks and stuff that just sat there and you couldnt get in them! What was Guerrilla thinking! I would have loved to fly in one of those jet things!

Yeah I agree 100% Also I thought the first level was the best looking one and should have revolved more around the kind of areas with the tanks and jets flying around like that
It received such a backlash because it was nowhere near (with so much emphasis there.... nowhere NEAR) the quality of Halo, nevermind Halo 2. It was marketed and hyped for months and months and months as the "halo-killer" by sony themselves. And it was a huge disappointment. In cases like that, it doesn't go to "oh well, it's still fun", rather it is immediately boxed off as garbage for failing to live up to the hype they created for it by such a vast margin.Ninja-Vox
it was hyped as the halo killer by individual fans. neither sony or guerilla ever called it a halo killer. they never openly said they were trying to compete with halo. blame the media and fanboys, not the company.

And the last levels also, in space, should have been able to pilot some space crafts. I think they'll improve on a lot of things, they have "ask the dev" team games in the online mode every now and then, where they ask the players what needed to be improved online wise for the next game. I told them vehicles in online :D

A sony guy called it "the halo killer" when it was announced. :| The cover of the PS2 magazine for that month was "Meet Sony's Halo Killer" and from that day onwards they had a monthly feature called "countdown to killzone." Fans dont hype games for no reason. Sony marketed it to hell.
I think the biggest problem with Killzone 1 was the developer, but not for the usual reasons. Guerrilla was (and for that matter still is) a very inexperienced developer, and they were charged with making the Sony equivalent of Halo, the be all and end all of console FPS's, which just so happened to be developed by a top notch developer that has been around since the early 90's. I think that Geurrilla was so caught up in trying to beat Halo that they let it get in their way of creatingtheir ownunique game. They were too busy trying to make Halo to realize they needed to make something better than Halo and go one step further.Although I don't have high hopes for KZ 2, I do hope Sony gives the franchise a shot with a more experienced developer (Insomniac would be a great choice) should KZ 2 suck.pundog
you make it sound like they tried to copy halo at every turn. you have to admit kz is pretty unique: the art style, the gritty presentation, the bad guys aren't aliens, it had aplausible feel with the weapons and the enviorments. the only possible imitation is that the tougher enemies are called 'Elites'. it seems the game simply lacked polish. I don't know if it was rushed or under-funded, but it could have been way better if the bugs had been fixed.

I'm not saying they copied Halo at every turn, but no one in their right mind could deny that Sony told Guerrilla to make them their own Halo. That was KZ's purpose, to be the equivalent of Halo (although that torch has apparently been passed on to Resistance) and try and steal the hardcore FPS fans from the 360.Please Log In to post.
